I have just purchased a dvd from the USA, i live in the UK, will dvd fab convert ntsc to pal so i can watch it on my tv without having to buy converters etc.

No, Fab will not convert NTSC <---> PAL.
It will make the bkup region free, but will not convert.If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
