Media Player that supports "DTS MA"

I don't think the AIOS supports BD menu navigation.
While this'd be a nice perk, honestly I have little use for it.

I rarely do anything but BD main miovie.
How many times do you watch the special features crap anyway?
I'd venture to say usually never...maybe once?

When I do want to archive special features...say bloopers, commentaries, etc.,
I simply rip an additional file (.mkv) with a title that makes sense for future reference.

I agree. I usually watch deleted scenes and that's about it. So that's why I want to just back up the "Main Movie" only. Honesty I don't know how to encode files using another type of method like you and GregiBoy do. (Avi or mkv)? I just use what DVDFab picks for the type of file. Changing it and to what's best for my purposes I admit to being ignorant!!!

Personally, I'd go with mkv.h264.audiocopy for your BD flicks, mkv being the container of choice.

I'd start with some of your favourite DVD's to assist you in getting your head around the process and use my "Best Practice" guide as the basis to proceed using the MKV.H264.Audiocopy profile.

It's not a real steep learning curve and things will start falling into place along the way.

I'm with Maneman on the extra crap. I used to flick through the disks and see if there was anything that I wanted but after about 300 disks, all I had ever done was "The Making of Blade Runner" so now I no longer bother.

Once you get a few successes here, then move on to bluray.

Yeah, this profile worked a treat at the time that I developed it, but I now far prefer the MKV container than the AVI container. I can do a hell of lot more with it. Pretty well the same A/V parameters though.

Yup, makes sense to move on for future conversions, but I have at least a 1000 flicks and tv series on a 2 TB hdd in my Argosy
done with your old samsung .avi profile.

The Argosy loves 'em and I just connected it up to a tv in the daylight basement "gym".
One of 2-3 rooms I plan to finish down there.
Should work out well for me & the Mrs...

Oh yeah, the AIOS plays 'em.
It plays any file format I throw at it.

From what I can tell so far, its lack of BD menu support has been its only shortcoming.
And like I said, I just care about the movie

Did a test when I got home. Main Movie direct to the external hdd. Aios wouldn't read it. Real frustrating. Guess I'll just do Full movie back up until I can figure this out. Maineman maybe you can tell me your exact steps when you do a main movie transfer to an external hdd. I was on the phone for an hour with Aios tech support trying to get the wireless connection to work. Nope. Very frustrating so far. Almost feel like sending everything back and just making disc back ups! I usually had no problem with those.

Like Greg said, try not to let the frustration get to you.
Hopefully, you've taken a break from it.

First off, to answer your question...I don't do the same thing every time.
The usual for me however, is simply to rip the BD disc (BD50, almost always main movie) to one of my rig's 4 internal hdds.
Then I simply right click and drag it to one of my 5 external hdds (4 in my mediasonic and 1 in my AIOS).
Subsequent to right clicking on the folder, I drag it to the new hdd and then select either copy or move from the dropdown.

I also sometimes rip straight to an ext hdd.
When converting, I frequently will convert straight to the ext hdd.

Are your movies in .ISO or BD folders?
Both will work just fine.

So this has to be some sort of AIOS navigation glitch.
Although the player is simple to operate, it is feature-rich and the menu/remote is actually quite complex.

Not only are you able to move, delete files, create playlists, personalize your navigation tools, etc., etc.,
but you can actually format the internal (AIOS) and various ext hdds.

Could you have inadvertantly deleted or removed files...from say a playlist or some other "list"?
This would explain the AIOS' failure to "see it"

For starters, try this:

Power up the AIOS and enter File Manager
> usb
> navigate to your ext hdd [eg., d:] and click
> Enter (Select) on your remote.

Now before you open the drive and populate the list, click on the
> green button (Operations) on the bottom of the remote.

You'll see a number of functions such as copy, delete, etc.,...
go to the bottom and select
> Multiple Select

Here again, you'll see a number of functions...play around and see if you can find the Main Movies.


On the remote
> Setup
> System
> scroll to 3rd from the bottom
> enable BD Navigation

Asuuming no dice so far, scroll to the bottom of System
and
Reset Factory Default

Maineman you are awesome. I found the main movies. They were there all along. Duh! Still having problems with the Aios when it comes to connecting the wireless adaptor. I tested the wireless adaptor with my desktop and it worked so there is an issue with the Aios. Support suggests I send the unit back for a replacement. Also I downloaded music files to my external hdd and the Aios won't play them. The file folders show up but inside they are empty and the media player doesn't play. Now that I can watch my videos I don't really want to exchange the player but with all these issues/bugs I might have to. Some of the issues may be my ignorance on how to use this type of tech. This being my 1st experience with this kind of media equipment both player and external hdd.
But also the player may be faulty. Any ideas on the music files? Thanks to all for the instructions on how to back up and play my videos!
