Good to hear that all BD content is working...
No idea yet on the music, but I tend to think it's just a navigation/settings issue.

Later on this eve when I get a chance, I'll try some music and photo content

Are you sure that you are pressing the "Music" button on the remote? Most of this class of player require this.

What format is your music in? MP3?

On the wireless, I would recommend never using it anyway...

When I get home I'll do more tests.I back up my music using Windows Media Player. Not sure what format file but most likely mp3?
Then I just copied and paste to the external hdd. I can play it on the hdd but so far haven't been able to on the Aios. Support told me a option to try and I'll try it later. What is the objection to a wireless connection? Just trying to take full advantage of what the player has to offer?

Wireless straming, especially of high bitrate BR rips, is fraught with problems because wireless sometimes cannot handle the throughput required.

If you use WMP, I'll nearly bet they are in WMA format as the default. I don't know whether the playe supports this but should, but still not desirable. MP3 is far more universally accepted. I always rip at 320k for best quality....

Here again GregiBoy is my problem. I do not have the knowledge on how to change formats say from WMA to MP3? Just like I'm not at all sure how to change the bluray formats either. I have read your guide but still am having trouble digesting what to do? As you can tell I've never had formal computer training. So it's hit or miss with me....mostly miss!

              Hey Unc,

The best way to gain knowledge is the way you are doing it now.... Bitter experience. I can assure you that both Maineman and I have been in the same place.

              On the MP3, just go int WMP->Tools-Options->Rip and select MP3 @ 320K....

Grab yourself a notebook and head up the pages and write stuff like this down.

              Hope this helps.

                Hey unc,

AIOS remote > File manager > Devices (All) >
Options (Remote button) > scroll down and select All Media for all devices.

You likely have just Movies enabled. If so, then the AIOS won't look for or "see" any other file type.

I've yet to find a file format this thing won't play.
I've got a conglomeration of music files...some from kids and friends.
My iTunes are in pretty good shape, but I've got a bunch of older stuff kicking around I just never got to...

I just tried an WMA with the AIOS...no problem.
However, absolutely agree with Greg...I know that's a real shocker...
MP3 is the way too go, but again...
your AIOS can play darn near anything.

Oh yeah, you may have to refresh/reconnect any usb connected devices (like ext hdds).
While I'm certain they are supposed to be hot swappable...I have not found this to be consistent.

This may be all operator error on my part...still learning, but the curve is not as steep now.
More of that Bitter Experience that Greg and I are so very fond of...

                  Maineman,
Found the All Media button last night and everything plays fine now. Except the wireless adaptor that GregiBoy suggest I forget about anyway. Not sure what hot swapping is. I do have issues getting the Aios to read the external hdd via the USB port. I usually have to have everything off and then plug in the hdd and let the Aios power up and turn on the hdd and let it boot up to be able to detect the connection. Does hot swapping mean pluging in when the unit is already on? That doesn't work for me. I really like this new tech hardware and watched Captain America last night. Awesome! Thanks for all the patient help to you and GregiBoy! I'm having knee surgery Thursday morning and am real glad I have this up and running to use for my recovery!

Oh one more ? What is the reason for the preference to MP3?

                      bada bing...bada boom

This can get pretty technical and I'm no audiofile.
                      MP3 files use lossy compression.
This makes the file size much, much smaller at the cost of not retaining "all" of the audio info in the original file.

Lossless compression does retain all of the original info so that when the file is decompressed it is restored to original.
The trade off here is that the files are not as compressed as with say the MP3 files

The WMA format to which Greg referred, is Microsoft's answer to MP3.
                      Both use lossy compression.
WAV is an example of uncompressed audio format and by comparison, is huge

As far as what you hear...if you're anything like me...
too many hours of really loud Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin at college in the 60's and 70's...
                      you'll never know...

I'll give it a shot next time i back up some music. My hearing is gone for the same kind of reasons too. Another ? comes to mind. I have 3d capabilities with my tv,blu ray player and such. The only way I can back up a 3d movie is if I clone it. Is there a way to back it up using this hdd method you guys use? No burning disc's is what I mean? Wanting of course the 3d picture and not 2d?

Everything is possible, you just have to invest time & $$$....

Nah, seriously though, you need to end up with a MKV file with both L & R images contained within it using BR 3D Ripper.

I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself here though. Get the 2D sussed and working propah first!

3D BD ---> Clone Mode ---> HDD should work ok.

Currently, I don't have 3D, but I understand Santa is going to give me a brand, spanking-new 3D TV.
To the best of my knowledge, Clone is the only mode that will work in Blu-ray Copy, but like I said...I've never done 3D.

Let me know what you find, I'd appreciate it

No probs, Maineman.... On those "Slow Meds" again???

I am trying to wean Unc away from ISO/Folder copies and get him to produce MKV/AVI fikes so have taken a slightly different approach.

Otherwise his 2Tb drive will be full real quick!!

                                Hmm....Slow meds, eh?
Right now I'd settle for "Where are my meds" meds.

And then again, I could just have a nice, big jolt of java...hehehe
