          Transformers 3

I too am unable to back up Transformers 3. Ive tried remux m2ts and mkv. On both the audio seems to have a problem. Almost like its switching between ac3 and truehd. When i am doing the back up i am only choose the hd audio and the movie. I've tried removing hd audio but that doesn't help either.
I have installed latest version of DVDfab. Any suggestions?

              Same problem, different technique

I posted the following on my blog and am including my details here. Logs are attached however I am unsure how much good they will do.

              ----------
I like to do my encoding by hand. The only "help" that I need is to decrypt the source disc and copy the file to my hard drive for manual processing.

My current challenge is with Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon. I use DVDFab to rip down my Blu-Ray to a large M2TS file. In this case the file is 32GB. Problems encountered so far:
              1) Problem on their passthrough profile. When I reported the problem they mentioned that it was bugged. It is now resolved.

              2) While DVDFab did remove the HD 7.1 audio from the HD audio track the output audio track was very odd. It would change channels and frequency (48k to 9k and then back to 48k). That resulted in me, once again, ripping using standard 5.1 non-HD audio. Not a big deal because I just convert to AAC 196Kbps audio.

Playback of the M2TS file appeared to be just fine, but I did not watch or listen to the entire thing.

              3) Even with that taken care of the problem persisted. The audio channel was seriously screwing with my encode. I even forced compliance and it still barfed.

              I am not alone:

So my solution is a slow one.
              1) Take the M2TS file that I have and do a "lossless" output:
              ffmpeg.exe -i e:\cygin\Transformers3.m2ts -vcodec libx264 -r 23.976 -acodec libfaac -ab 192k -ar 48000 -crf 0 -vsync 1 -async 1 -fpre libx264-normal_firstpass.ffpreset -fpre libx264-lossless_slow.ffpreset e:\cygout\Transformers3.mp4
              2) Wait for it to finish.
              3) Encode from the newly repaired source file.

I had to do some math to calculate how long this was going to take. So far it has done 72,000 frames in 11 hours. That is about 1.8fps[1]. The movie is 2 hours, 35 minutes and 21 seconds long (or about 222,041.736 frames). Total time for repair is around 33 hours. I started this at 5:00am this morning. It should be done around 2:00pm tomorrow.

Then I get to do my actual two pass encoding with the repaired file. Current output of FFMPEG:
              [h264 @ 003888d0] error while decoding MB 38 59, bytestream (-4)5941.1kbits/s
              [h264 @ 003888d0] concealing 1091 DC, 1091 AC, 1091 MV errors
              [h264 @ 003888d0] error while decoding MB 31 59, bytestream (-3)39167.3kbits/s
              [h264 @ 003888d0] concealing 1098 DC, 1098 AC, 1098 MV errors
              frame=73705 fps= 2 q=0.0 size=52808896kB time=3073.60 bitrate=140750.4kbits/s

The errors above are audio errors that my previous bitrate based encode choked on. When there is a problem that FFMPEG cannot resolve it will revert to whatever constant quality it was on when the problem happened and attempt to continue on. In my case it is at a quality level of "perfect" (or -crf 0 as shown in the command line above) or about 140,857Kbps excluding audio.

MediaInfo reports the rate of the source file to be between 27.9 Mbps and 34.0 Mbps. Nothing like "lossless" encoding to make a file f'ing huge.

Source file, as stated above, is 32GB. My current output file is 51GB. Estimated final size is 153GB.

Worst case scenario that I can think of is that I end up with a video with either poor or no audio. I can tear out the audio, process it[2] and then remux it back in.

And all of this pain could be avoided were I to just use DVDFab to do the transcode for me.[3][4]

And no, I am not all CDO[5] on encoding. Not at all.

              ----------
              1) Core i7 920 at stock speeds with 12GB of RAM.

              2) I don't know how as the problem hasn't shown itself yet.

              3) Possible but I've never done that before with FFMPEG but I know that MeGUI has that tool.

              4) And if it were not having issues.

              5) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder laid out alphabetically, as it should be.
