Other Lifetime vs. 1 year subscription

I know that as encrypting changes over time, so must the decrypting which is why we get software updates.

Why is there a need for a lifetime option on a converter program? (Other than software improvements.) Once you have copied your disc to a local hard drive, shouldn't the converter program work regardless of when you choose to convert?

Do any of these programs automatically stop working after 1 year, assuming someone paid for the 1 year subscription? Or, do you just stop getting software updates?

I paid for a lifetime version of DVD Copy many years ago when "lifetime" was the only purchase option. These subscription options seem odd to me.

    Thank you.

for me lifetime is the best option, i get always the last update (especially for video converter / ripper bug..)

no sense to buy one year and renew it every year...

new BD is produced and new protection discovered (and beated)

    all is IMHO bye!
