I would not recommend overburning in any shape or form.

I second GregiBoy's recommendation as well. I have it set to 4472mb for 4.7gb media and burn at a speed that is good for the media I am using at the time, which is usually Taiyo Yuden and I burn those at the rated speed. Verbatim I burn at 12x speed if they 16x rated and anything else I burn at 8x speed if rated at 16x

Ah ok Ty 4 the info

is it that overburned disc have a hard time playing back
on devices ? Or that each disc has deferint space ?

I'm thainking about wasting a few blank disc to c what space
is useabul for play back !

well I use 4482 mb on 4.7 media w/o over burn + imgburn

Well, here's a third thumbs down re: overburning.
Overburning is not recommended for a number of reasons, but simply, there is negligible benefit and huge potential for problems.

As the laser comes close to the edge of the disc, any imperfection in the disc is exaggerated...wobble increases, dye tends to thin out toward the edge, yada, yada, yada. This all adds up to the laser having more and more difficulty focusing and burning properly.
Ultimately, burning too close to the edge predisposes burn errors, period.

These problems occur even with top quality media, but become much more exaggerated when using marginal or crappy media.

I use TY media (YUDEN000 T02) almost exclusively and the upper, reasonable limit for top quality media is 4472 MB, just as AGJ said.
There's just no logic in trying to squeeze in an extra few MBs
It's essentially, an insignificant amount of space.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Just use Fab's compression to fit it on a SL disk if that is your goal. That is a far better, more reliable option.
