There are many good free software players that will play them. I use VLC Media player, there are probably better ones specifically for playing DVDs but it plays every video file I've thrown at it.How to post the internal log

I'm with 90312 and VLC.
As stated, VLC will play darn near anything and does not rely on external codecs.
Another excellent, free player is MPC (Media Player Classic).
It's best to select the entire movie folder on your hdd and not any subdirectories.
This way you'll avoid playing .vob files as individual files (movie fragments) unless you happen to pick the correct .IFO file.
The AUDIO_TS folder is almost always empty. This is normalIf it ain't broke, don't fix it!
