In my experience

I have been using Taiyo Yuden blanks, now owned by JVC but still labeled JVC/Taiyo Yuden, made in Japan. For the first few months of using DVDFAB I kept having problems with playback on burned DVDs, tho I was using brand name blanks like Maxell, Sony, etc. I turned to this forum and many people were recommending Verbatim and/or Taiyo Yuden. I have never had a problem since using the TYG02s. Extremely dependable, and even tho they were merged with JVC a while back, the blanks have retained their excellent quality. As far as I know, Taiyo Yuden is one of the few made in Japan. Many name brands are made by many different companies all over the world---Asia especially. Quality thus varies considerably within a brand---thus problematical quality. With Taiyo Yuden, no such problems exist.
