    Other Grainy Picture

I have a friend who recently got a Used Computer, about a Year Old.

    Computer seems to work fine.

When he Plays a video, it looks good.

BUT, when he Plays a DVD or Blu Ray it looks Grainy.

I told him about YOUR DVDfab Programs, but he doe's NOT want to spend the money until he can fix the Problem.

ANYBODY here know what his Problem is ???

        Hi ordman
I agree with my friend GregiBoy, have him try Fab's player and give any other info about his computer that you can.

Here is some Info about his computer,

          HP Computer HPE380t

          Intel i7-930 quad core

          12GB of Memory

          Windows 7

          Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium

          GeForce GTX460 1024MB GDDR5

          Trial Version of PowerDVD 12

NVidia Driver : GeForce GTX 460 314.07 (is Newest Driver)

We thought about adjusting the settings, but the Videos he plays from different Web Sites looks Good.

It's when he Plays a DVD or Blu Ray he gets the Grainy Look.

I thought somebody here might have some ideas on how to solve this Problem.

Well if the problem is isolated to playing a disc, ie.,
every time you toss a disc into the drive the result is poor quality video,
            I'd suspect the ODD.

Does this pc have more than one ODD?
Is the problem reproducible on another ODD?

You can try cleaning the laser prior to swapping out the drive, but your friend may be looking at another ODD
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

              What is ODD ????

Sorry But that went over my head.

GOOGLE says ODD is a mental disorder.

Are YOU saying that there is something wrong with his Drive ???

Optical Disc Drive. And I agree with maineman that all seems to point to the ODD.

I'm simply saying that based on the info thus far, it seems likely.

                  Easy enough to check.

I put a Blu Ray Disc into the Blu Ray Drive, and it came out Grainy.

I put a DVD into the DVD Drive, and it came out Grainy.

                    So what now ???

And make sure the bit depth is set to 32.

Where do I find the Bit Depth to set it at 32 ????

He installed the Trial Version of DVDfab, and installed the Media Player.

The DVD played Very SLOW, But it looked better than it did with the PowerDVD 12.

It could be the machine or the drive.

Check what mode the drive is in.
