    Best video quality?

I am trying to convert my DVD to best video file. I chose the "Samsung.P7510" profile, available under version8 and it looked pretty good. However, I've heard that mkv is a better archive format. Whenever I try to convert to that file type using various advanced options, the resulting video looks very interlaced. I even selected the deinterlaced option. The Samsung profile looks so much better.

What am I doing wrong? How can I same the file to the best archive format and have it still look as good as the old Sasmung profile?

    thanks!

I don't know how much hard advice I can offer here, as much of what you see is based on the equipment you are using for playback... (computer, monitor, etc.etc.)

All I can suggest is to use the old trial-and-error method to see what looks the best, and go from there.

P.S. What's wrong with the old Samsung profile?? It seems to be giving you pretty good results...

So I tried to create a profile within DVDFab that was based on a mp4 file I received that was not created from DVDFab and which works perfectly on both my xbox and Samsung TV. However, when I attempt to play the DVDFab created video, it does not play on the XBOX and the thumbnail for the video is gray and pixelated. This is not ture for the non-DVDFab created file.

I downloaded a program (GSpot) to compare the two video files to see how they are different. Here are my results:

      Video that WORKS:
      Container:
      isom: MP4 Base Media v1 [IS0 14496-12:2003]
      -iso2: MP4 Base Media v2 [IS0 14496-12:2005]
      -mp41: MP4 v1 [ISO 14496:ch13]
      Audio Codec:
      mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
      48000Hz , stereo (2/0)

      Video that does NOT work:
      Container:
      mp42: MP4 v2 [ISO 14496-14]
      - isom: MP4 Base Media v1 [IS0 14496-12:2003]
      Audio Codec:
      mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
      48000Hz 128 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)

Can anyone tell why on video works and the other file does not?
