Blu ray software purchase

purchased blu ray software about 2 months ago. does the software purchase also include dvd to dvd burning. when burning newer movies, it will not alow me to go into dvd5. keeps asking me to renew or subscribe to dvd to dvd. asking me to use dual layer disk instead of single layer. help here please.
