What Software Should I Buy - Help!!

I've tried so many different free software downloads and can't find what I need from any software site.
Here is what I want to do with the software. I want to rip a dvd movie completely to my hard drive (I have plenty of space) and then I want to use software to turn all the vob files into 1 mp4 file. I also want a srt file for the English sub-title if there is one. What I have been getting is 1 mp4 file for each VOB file and either no sub files or hard coded sub files in the mp4 files.
I've tried HandBrake, Easy Video Convertor and some others and still get the same results. Can anyone tell me which DVDFab software I should use!!
    Tks, Karen

You will not get a SRT file from any of the software.

SRT is a text format whilst all the converting programs will either burn in or use the native format contained in the stream or externally, VOBSUB for DVD's or PGS for Blu-Rays.

These are graphical formats and require OCR to turn them into SRT format which is why most software companies have stayed away from any conversion as OCR is a whole art/science in itself and SRT's for most titles are freely downloadable from the Internet anyway.

Why specifically do you want MP4/SRT's?

MP4 (& M4V by association) have considerable restraints on what can actually be contained within the file and what will play.

MKV is a far better choice for most modern hardware & software players that are not brain-dead.
