Do I need a special program to watch a movie that is backed up to the hard drive? I guess I just chose the hard drive as the target, correct? Thanks

Hi cupton50
This depends on what your want to view it on, a computer or TV, and is it a external or internal Hdd.
If you want to view it on your computer using your internal or external Hdd, you can use DVD Fab media player found here or VLC found here .
If watching on your TV you will need to use an external Hdd, some TVs will allow you to just plug it into your USB outlet on the TV or use a media player.
Hope this helps

If your graphics card has 2 hdmi or one hdmi and a dvi as many do you can hook most newer tvs to your computer direct or through a hdmi receiver as most home theaters do.
This also depends on your monitor as newer ones hook up with hdmi or dvi mine has dvi that hooks to my computer and hdmi that hooks up to my receiver then to my tv.Use clone source mode on your graphics card so it outputs to both monitor and tv at the same time and this way whats on your computer is on your tv also in hi def if you set the resolution to 1080p or if your receiver up-converts to 1080p.
Some graphics cards can be set to a different resolution than the hdmi output so you can have two different resolutions going at the same time. This way what ever drives are hooked up to your computer you can view on your tv with a receiver that switches hdmi inputs you can have a media player in the line or anything with a hdmi output also so everything is output in hdmi from the receiver to the tv.To play a dvd or blu ray just use a softwear player or you can put the movie on a larger hard drive and use a media player to play the movie using hdmi.Last edited by glenns; 08-29-2013, 03:14 PM.

back up movies on hd
I backed up two movies on the internal hard drive but they are broken down into several files. I have music videos and stand up comedy and movies from YouTube that play with a click of the icon. I have hundreds and hundreds of these files on the drive and there is no problem. I have a nVidia 660ti video with hdmi connected to the tv. Am I stuck with several files for every movie? It would be so much easier to play from the computer than shuffling through the boxes. Thanks for any help

If you've backed up to a DVD structure on your hard drive, give DVD Fab Media Player a try. It will open folders and play it like a normal DVD.
There is a free trial.
