    Question re. DVDFab HD Decrypter

    Hi

Please forgive the perhaps dumb question, but I have looked around at the FAQs and the forum, but can't seem to find an answer. Perhaps it's so obvious, I'm missing it!

I have downloaded the 'DVDFab HD Decrypter' from Free Stuff, but what exactly can I do for free? By this I mean something that won't time out after 30 days.

For instance, when I use it to copy "Main Movie" to my HDD, it tells me I am trying DVD to DVD and it'll expire in 30 days. This behaviour is identical as to if I downloaded the full Platinum trial version and did the same thing with that.

So really, what I'd like to know, is what can I do with this free version that won't time out? There doesn't seem to be any information on what is time restricted and not.

    Thanks in advance

BugPowderDust Welcome to the DVDFab forum

After 30 days you will only be able to do Full disc as is .

You will not be able to do Main Movie only or reduce size or any of the other great things that the paid version will do.

Removal of new protections may not be available yet in the free version of DVDFab (HD Decrypter)

Troy's excellent tutorial on Setting up ImgBurn with DVDFab :

I use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim media mainly.
    Trying Falcon D/L media

I use ImgBurn as my main burning engine

    Free Media Player VLC

Actually you can do Full movie with no compression and Main Movie no compression for the free version after the 30 days is over.

            Thanks AGJ

Been a while since I had the free version, forgot what all it did.

Sure no problem bean55 as I let the trial run out on my other computer to find out what you get for the free version. I still need to run a few tests so I know before I do my OS install again

Hi.... I actually came here looking for what the HD Decrypter is actually. My 'free' version of the Blu Ray to Blu Ray time is over... I cannot even do Full Disc. Every time I open it DVDFab won't find my Blu Ray Disc that is in the drive.... empty source menu is all I get.

I am using the Dec. 25 Beta.

Yes that is correct because the FREE version does not include Blu-Ray.

OK - so the Free Version cannot even do Full Disc as the posts above suggest? Just want to know before I decide to buy.

                    Cheers!

It can do FULL DISK - DVD to DVD, not Blu-Ray.

                        Thanks!

So I guess we go back to the initial question... what exactly is the 'Free' HD Decrypter that is listed as 'Never Expires'?

Exactly what I said above.. FULL DISK, DVD to DVD, No compression.

Thanks again - just seems a tad confusing as the title of the product is 'HD Decrypter' and as stated in your post in the Knowledge Base

"DVDFab HD Decrypter - Free Product

DVDFab HD Decrypter will rip a DVD to a hard disk folder or an ISO image file, removing all copy protection but without compression. DVDFab HD Decrypter removes all the DVD protections (CSS, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs and Sony ARccOS) and part of Blu-ray protections (AACS, RC, UOPS and BD-Live) while copying."

Says it removes/decrypts Blu Ray as well.... so as I say - a tad confusing as to what the HD Decrypter is.... DVD is not 'HD' ;-)

Have a read of this thread of mine which attempts to clarify it.
