BD 3D to mkv question

Sorry if this has been asked or covered before but I didn't find it in a search of the forums here.

Since getting a 3D-enabled flat screen, I've been shelling out for a number of 3D blu ray titles for my kids who are fascinated with it.

I stream most of my movies to an Oppo 105, and was wondering if I converted my first test movie: "Monsters vs Aliens" to MKV, would it have the full 3D and 1080 HD quality of the disc. I have plenty of HD space on my NAS, so there's no issue of compressing the mkv.

My Oppo is besides the point. I was just asking whether an mkv conversion from bd/3d would retain the full quality of the original feature.

I don't think you can stream full 3d over wi fi well as their's too much information better off making a full 3d backup disk and playing it in full 3d on the 3d player or 3d media player.

Also don't expect a reply so fast many people come on line at different time's day and night as we are a international forum with time zones from New york to China of 12 hrs difference so some are sleeping when others are awake.Also you asked a question about Oppo 105 that's a very costly machine most people don't have so you may not get a answer.

As far as your question of full 3d (3dmkv) is it a loose-less conversion of the same information on the full 3d disk I will let Fab staff answer as none of the ripper profiles for 3d say pass through on them so it's a good question.

3d disc to 3d mkv, the video was recode,so the original feature is changed.
You can choosed the 3D format in 4 which fit to your TV.
But the video your convered also own the best quality.
Maybe it will retain the full quality of the original feature in the future.

As it turns out, I decided to get off my lazy duff and rip one of my BD 3Ds to MKV -- "Pacific Rim". I ripped it to ISO then once to MKV 3D and then to MKV Passthrough just for the heck of it. Well...wow! Comparing the Passthrough version with my disc itself blew me away! As was the MKV 3D -- but (subjectively) not as detailed as the former. It was reeaalll close...too close to definitively select one or the other -- or the original disc. My TV (Sony KDL-55W900A) has some nifty 3D options (side-by-side/up down, etc.) as does the Oppo 105 -- so this may be a relatively atypical setup -- or I'm not a typical hyper-critical videophile, just a mere civilian.

@fengtao: I can't wait to see what the native MVC-3D MKV will look like! As far as I (and my 3D-loving kids) are concerned, everyone's happy -- especially me, as I don't have to let the little devils near the Oppo with a shiny di$c... Thank you for your continued efforts.

@glenns's: The MKVs streamed perfectly as I'm hard-wired to the Oppo -- no glitches, no loss. As good as the movies I've burned to USB flash drives.
