    Other A multi-part question about 3D Blu-Ray discs

When did 3D Blu-Ray discs begin using SSIF files. I have noticed on some older 3D Blu-Ray discs, such as Transylvania 3D, that there is no SSIF folder or corresponding .SSIF files. Yet it is a 3D Blu-Ray title.

What was the reason for the format change and the introductin of .SSIF files. Is it purely a new form of DRM or were the other benefits for the manufacturers of blu-ray disc movies and consumers alike?

    Thanks for reading

If it's a 3d blu ray they all have ssif files or you don't get 3d.

Their is no U.S. 3d movie named Transylvania however their is one called Transylvania Hotel if that's what your referring to that one is not that old.

Fab can convert any full 3d blu ray movie to side by side 3d so if you see the blu ray has no ssif files it's a side by side 3d format.

Fab can also make a simulated 3d movie that adds depth but no pop off the screen effects. This is what some 3d TV's can do on the fly with live tv so theirs not much call for this type of disk. Some TV's do this better than others Samsung TV's do it the best.

These can be put on regular dvd's or blu ray's.

Side by side 3d movies if viewed on a non 3d tv will have 2 side by side pictures in one frame.Your 3d tv puts them together to form a 3d picture.

Their are other older 3d formats red/green etc that could be put on a blu ray but these use the older red /green viewing glasses.

Their is one other form of 3d used with older movies that must be used with older tvs that are interlaced they were used with dvd's not blu rays.

Hotel Transylvania in 3D is what I was referring to. It's an animated movie. Thank you for the good information.
