Blue screen - Windows 7 64bits

I installed the latest release (6.2.1.8) on my recently rebuild PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits. DVDFab doesn't start and my PC crashes immediately. The blue screen pinpoints nvlddmkm.sys as the culprit.
I had first VSO burner installed. The problem is still the same after VSO removal.
No log file were generated.

Nope it doesn't. Uninstall and do a reinstall & registration as Administrator.

That file is part of your nVidia drivers. Maybe installing an older driver will help.

I'm running W7/64 with a 8800GTX card, and DVDFab doesn't work perfectly on my system, but it doesn't crash Windows.

I'm running 8.15.11.9038 drivers dated 07/14/2009.

I have Windows 7 64 bit installed de novo on new hardware:
- MB: ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo,
- CPU: Q9550,
- RAM: 8GB DDR2,
- GPU: GTX260,
- HDDs: 2 SATA WD Black series (0.5 and 1 TB),
- PSU: Antec 550W,
- DVD/RW: TSSTCorp SH-S223B (SATA).

Any similarities to other BSOD experiences?

Generally speaking the issue is in pcouffin.sys driver.
Maybe it use some Vista compatible routines, not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit?

What other DVD burning software do you have installed on your system? I believe that pcouffin.sys driver is driver for writing to dvd.. Not sure (but I remember something about that). If so, then it could be that it is a conflict between it and another driver used for the same purpose.

ASPI Adaptec SCSI prog. interface, but you'd see it all the time, like for your nonscsi IDE drives, CDROM and hard drives---BECAUSE it was a standard, and worked.

I believe your pcouffin sys could be related to a replacement for ASPI, or getting around having to pay adaptec for using ASPI.

Did you go into "Device Manager" and remove the device?

The link ^ by PCPC does a decent job of describing the patin-couffin driver.

First off, in device manager, scroll down to at (or near) the bottom >
VSO, expand to display patin-couffin.
Delete all instances of patin-couffin, I suspect you may have multiple installs.
Supposedly, VSO is using SPTI and not patin-couffin access layer.

Download a fresh 6.2.1.8 installer from Fab and if you still want another shot with VSO, keep the VSO install ticked.
In Common Settings > Read > I/O Mode
Be certain to select SPTI .

If you still have a problem, repeat the uninstall(s) of patin-couffin and this time untick VSO on the Fab installer.
In this instance, you'll want to use Img as your burn utility.
It's far superior to VSO anyway in terns of configurability and reliability.

BTW, I'm running Win7, 64-bit Pro, GTX 260 EVGA card and a core i7 920 Bloomfield 2.66 GHz Quad cpu.
No problems here at all
