    Other The "CINAVIA" and OPPO..

This new "crap" is being install on mostly ALL new blu-ray players .. I just told OPPO that the 105D player that i just ordered and is set to be delivered on Thursday will be REFUSED and return to them and they clearly understand why ...
DVDFAB 9.1.4.3 will not remove this garbage and ANYDVD said they are working on the problem.

    Hi SERIOUS7
This has been true for a couple of years now, give this a read through http://blog.dvdfab.cn/cinavia-protection.html
Many people have switched to media players which are not affected by Cinavia.

      I have an Oppo BDP-103...

Currently 'Cinavia' is only triggered on the Oppo if you try to play 'Cinavia' infested back-up's via disc based media. So as long as you back-up your 'Cinavia' infested Blu-ray disc's to 'main movie' .MKV files and play them via USB or via your network, you should be fine.

      Cheers

Just to add another option, I have added a USB external drive to my media player and can play Cinavia infected backup discs. Note: It must be a backup disc, media players typically do not have the firmware required to decrypt studio released discs.

Just got a new wd media player to find out how the media files worked over disk. Which is the best way to convert mkv or iso since the wd will play both? Also I read in a post that the media player's firmware can have Cinavia in it also. Is this true? Makes me afraid to hook the player up to the web. So far i am just using it to play files from a portable hd. I made the mistake of hooking up a samsung blu ray to streaming via wifi and it upgraded automatically with Cinavia via firmware. Sucks. I want to not have that happen with the media player also. Thanks for all the great help you guys provide to us who are not so computer savy.

This is from a moderator on the WD forum, not verified:

"WD secretly added Cinavia to their 1.06.04 firmware update for the WDBHG70000NBK (WDTV LIVE GEN 3)."

              Jeez...

I don't the idea that Cinavia (audio water marking protection) has been added to 'non' disc-based media playback devices

I don't know, I have an AOIS but he seemed really PO'd because it got him. I wouldn't have thought that unless it has the firmware to decrypt studio discs it wouldn't be able to listen for the Cinavia signal.

BTW the PS3 will detect the watermark on MP4 and AVI played on it so... But the PS3 is a BR player?

I know of people that have been able to play Cinavia infested .MP4, .MKV and .M2TS files via USB on Sony Blu-ray disc players

Yeah My Panasonic infected BR player will play MKV infected files through the USB port. But if you burn the MKV file to disc Cinavia is detected and the audio mutes. That's what makes me think it's a disc media+firmware thing.

My sony player was infected with Cinavia when I got it and I didn't know it, that is why I got the other player only to have it infected by a download. Live and learn. I have tried using the USB with my portable hard drive on the sony. It worked great for DVD files but not for ISO or for MKV and didn't recognize several other files. I m using a WD TV media player not a Live one so I am not sure if the firmware is contaminated so I am streaming on other devices like the sony BR player I have. The model for the WD I have is WDBYMN0000NBK-HESN and I am only going to use with the portable HDD I have. Not using the WIFI it has built in so I should not have any problem. It does have a manual update that you can load onto a flash drive from their web site but I am staying away from that also until I know for sure about the Cinavia status. Still would like to know which is the best format to use for files ISO or MKV or whatever. Thanks again for the great advice and help.

It's not the WD forum but a hacker forum and also BS. There's no Cinavia in ANY of the WDTVs.

Didn't mean to upset anyone with the post just worried about others getting burned. Thanks for the update on the hacker site. Still would like to know which format is best for files. Thanks again for the quick response.
