    DvDfab 100% Quality question

I have a question about the "Quality" selection at the bottom of the first screen.I have read thru the forums and not sure I understand it thoroughly.

First, understand I am going from DVD to VIDEO_TS folder. (I just want to capture the complete DVD to convert/encode the files later)

So if the Quality section states "DVD5 Quality: 100% (2895MB>2895MB)"
does this mean that it compresses the video 100% or the video is captured to 100% Quality? I dont want compression right if I dont plan on ever going back to DVD?

I know this is probably a dumb question and I apologize but, I want the purest VOB file to convert/encode later.

    Thanks for the help!

Given your example, it means that there is no compression, or 100% quality since the file size (2895MB) is less than the maximum storage size of a single layer DVD (DVD5) disk. The higher the quality, the less compression. Depending upon your settings in DVDFab, the DVD5 storage size is 4300MB. Therefore, unless your backup exceeds 4300MB for a DVD5 disk, DVDFab won't perform any compression.

Not a dumb question at all. I have seen this come up in a couple of other threads in the past. If you want your vob file to be as close as possible then you probably shouldn't compress. I only ever copy the main movie of my dvd's, when I make a backup. I do not compress, i.e dvd 5 or dvd 9. Copying onto your HD or blank media would have the same rule of thumb. "Always go for the best quality". Also you want the purest vob file. Are you playing back you dvd's through a Western Digitasl Box? or leaving them on a HD to play back on your P.C? If playing your dvd's on an LCD T.V you will see the difference in quality from compressing or not.

Thanks to both of you for clarifying!!

I plan on taking the VOB files, encoding them to H.264 using other software and streaming them from my PC using Tversity to my Xbox 360 and then on to my 50 LCD. I just want to make sure I get the best bang for the buck.
