DVDfab: What is optimal media for backup?

I have been burning for a while and as of late have been really wondering whether I should continue buying the Sony blank media. I awnted to know what the other users believe to be the best media specifically. Brand and type. Dvd+r or Dvd-r and who makes it. And when there are several types what the specific brand codes. Also where is a tried and true place to cheaply purchase them. I normally shop online. Also what would be the optimal write speeds for that media. I am just trying to get the best results so I can retain my backups for a long time worry free without a lot of wasted media. Thanks all.

Sorry checked it a few times and didn't see a response. I live in Arkansas, United States. I shop for most media online because have found it to be cheaper.

well newegg.com has blank media and is pretty cheap for verbatim when they have them on sale Here is link for the sale they have on at the moment They even carry Taiyo Yuden. Then you have SuperMediaStore which has a vast selection of Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and other not so good media and here is a link to that as well
