Is there any advantage to copying a BD movie to ISO format vs. the BMDV and CERTIFICATE folder format? Besides ISO being the recommended format for DMS? I have a mix of about 3K BD and DVD movies, almost all in folder format, so converting them would be a long project - worth it?

DVDFab Movie Server supports both folder and ISO, if the files are already in folder format, you don't need to convert them.
When it is ISO file, you can use virtual drive to mount the ISO file to make it work like a true disc when playback, as some software player doesn't support to play ISO file directly.
If you were trying to playback the output file on PC using software player, I would suggest to use DVDFab Player 5, which supports both folder format and ISO file
