    Blu-ray ripper audio

I am having a difficult time trying to find reliable way to rip Atmos/TrueHD audio into mkv. I have Roku and WD Live + media players. setup is media player hdmi to avr then hdmi from avr to tv.

I rip 2 versions. One with AC3 5.1 and one audio pass through. AC3 5.1 plays on any device even tv without avr. When I select “audio pass through” for rip my AVR sometimes detects it and sometimes detects it as stereo when playing on WD. It seems any audio with DTS-based source is successfully passed from both Roku and WD to avr. I think the issue is TrueHD source is either processed as stereo by avr using WD or no audio when passed from Roku to avr.

even though avr is used for audio, tv input does display the audio type to help verify above. ie TV will note TrueHD when avr is playing stereo.

does anyone know good Blu-ray rip audio settings to consistently preserve the atmos audio that will work with WD and Roku media players passing audio to the atmos compatible avr?
