Dvdfab free DVD decryptor HD question

    Hi guys
I just found out about these products and they look great. Now I downloaded the DVD decryptor HD and it seems that it downloaded the whole suite. I read the description on the website and it says that it breaks the copy protection and copies the full movie to the computer. When I run the program no matter what option I choose it says "you are trying DVD to DVD" then the 30 day free trial starts. My question is what do you have to do to just use the free program. Then I started to wonder if it was only a decryptor. Such as opening the DVD with it and just leaving it running in the back ground while you launch another ripping program. But it did state on the site that it copied as well, so I'm kinda confused now. I was also wondering what the difference is between decryptor HD and freedvd. In advance thank you all for your time.

    Hi Element311 and welcome,

When you "try" the software, you'll have the fully functional, retail version for a 30-day trial after which, the trial (retail) version will convert to the freeware (DVDFab Decrypter) version.
So there's no method to "access" the freeware version other than waiting until the trial expires.

Yes, the freeware version is a ripper only and it will not compress.
Keep in mind that DVDFab Decrypter lags behind the retail version with respect to decrypting capabilities by about 60-90 days.

FreeDVD is very limited in the types of copy protection removal.
    Handy for removing region coding
    Honestly, I've never used it
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Oh ok, thanks for getting back to me so fast. I am probably going to buy it anyway since its such a great product. I tried many other programs to rip "When in Rome" for my wife to use on her iphone and nothing worked. I usually use dvdshrink with some other decryptor but this particular dvd crashed the program every time. So I tried dvdfab and it ripped the movie in 20mins. This is an awesome product and I am going to recommend it to all my friends.

      Thanks

DVDFab also has a Decryptor that can be used with DVDShrink that decryptor is called DVDFab Passkey and can be located in link below.

Passkey is free while in Beta stage

          Just so I'm clear:

After the trial period DVDFab Decrypter still works but DVDFab HD Decrypter does not? So after the trial the option to decrypt BD to Disk will not work?

          Thanks for a great product.

            Nope, that's not it exactly.
The only module that will work once the trial period expires is DVDFab HD Decrypter.
It'll only rip standard and BD dvds....no compression, no burning
Unfortunately, DVDFab HD Decrypter is a misnomer and hasn't had the capability to decrypt HD dvds since sometime during Fab 5.xxx (the last working version eludes me at this time...I never did go the HD route anyway).

Frankly, I wish Fengtao would change the name back to DVDFab Decrypter. It would save on confusion and repeat questions.
I also added to the confusion when I typed DVDFab Decrypter above in post #2.
I just got lazy and left out the HD...sorry about that
