I have a registration issue, which is also a security loophole for DVDFAB designers to consider closing.
I had both dvdfab 6 & 7 installed & registered on my Win 7 pc running with the default UAC settings ( i.e. UAC on ) in windows 7.
then I decide to get rid of UAC - i.e. turn it off iin control panel & reboot PC. this causes various poorly documented additional side effects e.g. cookies, passwords etc are all lost and also causes some programs to lose their registrations.
so both DVDFAB 6 & 7 now appear as trial versiona.
I tehn had real problems getiing the new style key back in to both versions, as it has to be don by telling WIN 7 to open the key file with DVDFAB 6 or 7. and once windows has decided that the key is associated with dvdfab6 I could not get it to associate with dvdfab 7. I had to trick windows by copying & renaming key file and giving them .df6 and .df7 extensions so that I could set up "open with" defaults.
surely there is an easier way ?
so what is the recommended method please, in case I ever have to do it again.
the security issue is that all trial options for extra features have reset themselves to " never used" , and the main programs had reset to day 1 of trial 30 days before I re-registered them. so options where I'd previously used up the free 1 month trial e.g. file to mobile are available to me again.
so any one who was prepared to toggle UAC on / off every 30 days would, I guess, have never ending trial periods ??? - I am assuming that putting UAC back on would have the same side effects as turning it off. I'm not super-tech savvy but I gather that it's something to do with virtualistaion of resistry keys under UAC
