    Slow copy and burn

last night I was making a copy of a movie I own. I was using my wifes computer and noticed that both the copy times and the burn times were at least twice as long as when using my computer. She has a year old laptop using windows vista and my computer is 5 years old . I thought it would be faster with a new burner but it isn't. What could be wrong with it.
