Blu-ray to mobile vs. Dvd to mobile

IS THE VIDEO QUALITY BETTER IF GOING FROM BLU-RAY TO AVI THAN
GOING FROM DVD TO AVI ?

Trying to get the best picture when going to mobile from one of these. (are bits just bits?)
I'm using a WD Media Player and Samsung 40 inch.

Could an AVI made from a Blu-Ray have better quality than the DVD? Yes.
Would you be able to notice the difference? Maybe depending on lots of factors including the bitrate, your player, your TV, and how far away you sit.

I believe the WD plays a lot more than AVI files. If you have unlimited space then you might consider using M2TS or MKV files to save the original BD quality (although you may have trouble with the audio).

Do some reading around the forums. There are lots of people trying to do this.
