So I have been burning DVD for awhile now without issue. I just went from 8.0.2.0 to 8.0.4.0. I normally burn to Generic which creates and AVI file. The ones I burned w 8.0.2.0 and previous open without issue on Win7 64 bit system to play. Today I just upgraded to 8.0.4.0 and ripped 2 DVD's to generic AVI format. When they are done and I try to play them I get the following error:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
I tried playing with Quicktime too but cannot see video. I can play the video with VLC so I'm not sure what changed. Did they switch default Codecs?
I can rip to MP4 without issue. It looks like a problem with this new version.
