    Problem Creating a Playable Disk

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can seem to create a playable
DVD. I have avi files that I try to create a DVD with, but I can
only play the resulting DVD on my computer. It won't play on
a DVD component or in the DVD player in our vehicle.

The only message I see in the log file is
    0m 23.07s: volume label
    0m 23.10s: failed to read copyright: sensekey 05 asc 24 acsq 00
0m 23.10s: failed to read disc key: sensekey 05 asc 24 acsq 00

0m 23.53s: failed to read disc key: sensekey 05 asc 24 acsq 00
    0m 23.74s: got copyright 0 fe
    0m 23.75s: got udf/iso
    0m 23.75s: failed to open disc 208
    0m 28.32s: 513.05 : video codec(28,875967048) try to connect inter-codec failed
    0m 46.04s:

    Any help would be appreciated.

        Hi djbrown98
Could you also post the burn log generated for this disc since the computer will play it and nothing else?

              Hi djbrown98
The media you are using is not really that good.
As a suggestion maybe try ImgBurn as your burn engine, you will find instructions on setting it up with Fab in the link in my signature, remember to set up the AWS in ImgBurn and your write speed to 1/2 the rated speed of your media.
              Hope this helps

I agree with CBR929 follow the link in his signature and install ImgBurn. My son bought me a spindle of Memorex media with that same MID and they are really not so hot. When you install Imgburn be sure to check optimum power calibration in tools/write tab. Probably your best shot at making that media work, all those sensekey errors means your drive really doesn't like that media.

                  Hmmnn...

I have been using Memorex the entire time I have been using DVDFab, (since 5-23-2009, according to my dvdfab_burn_vso.log), and about five years before that, because it over a period of time proved to be reliable above the top brands that I tried; Verbatim, TDK, etc.

For the sake of argument, what are the top three media that you suggest?

Also, if I want my logs to reflect Only recent activities, how do I "reset" them, just delete the contents?

                    Hi amaze122

The only single layer media you should use are Taiyo Yuden DVD-R or Verbatim DVD+R -or DVD-R with the AZO Dye on the package.

As far as Dual layer Verbatim DVD+R, also with the AZO Dye on the package.

You could delete the contents, but they really do not take up much space on a Hdd, if you need to post logs, just copy and paste the most recent logs using note pad.

The most recent Burn logs will be at the beginning of the log, and the most recent Internal log will be at the end of the log.

Okay, thanks very much for the info! I am going to go and Google Taiyo Yuden..and I guess I will just keep my logs as they are, since you did not suggest deleting them...

I found the Taiyo Yuden. There were several print surfaces available, Watershield White, White Thermal Everest, etc., which I am sure I do not need to splurge on, since I do not print on my discs. I was advised to buy Taiyo Yuden Silver Lacquer, which were the most popular because of price. Also I was told, (and I hope this is true) that the JVC brand (Taiyo bought the company out) are exactly the same discs, and indentical in quality as the old Taiyo Yuden.

They come in two speeds, 8x and 16x. I read that this actually refers to the writing speed supported by the drives. My drives are the NEC ND-3540A, and the Lite On Combo SOHC 5236V, both of which support a max speed of 16x.

So should I buy the highest speed supported by the two drives; which is 16x, even though it is usually recommended to burn at Less than the max capability of the drive being used to burn?

                          Hi amaze122
The Taiyo Yuden Silver Lacquer should treat you fine.
I have always bought 16X Verbatim -R discs and always burn at 8X, never had a problem.

Remember to follow instructions on setting up ImgBurn's AWS and your write speed to 1/2 the rated speed of your disc.
                          Keep us posted.
