    Can I use the CPU Instead of GPU

    Hi I have a Q6600 on a Gigabyte P35-DS4 OC to 3.4ghz, and a Nividia 8500GT made by PNY. Can I use the GPu for when compressing movies? Will it be faster? On another note I do rip the full disk to the hard drive first. Thanks all.

    CUDA with the 8500 GT will slow you down. I upgraded to a Q9300 and it was much faster without CUDA with my 8500 GT.

      What did you have before the Q9300? How much of a performance boost did you experience?

        ok so i did use the q6600 to encode the videos (just change in encoding settings to software + cuda to just software for those who want to know how) its OC to 3.6ghz and did a movie in 1.5hrs vs 9.5hrs!!! Now second question. Does quality play a role here?
