I am somewhat of a novice with DVDFab in the world of blu-ray, but have been a licensed user of DVDFab for DVD for a fair number of years. Here is my approach to burning blu-rays, which has worked 100% (meaning every disc burned fine and they play perfectly) so far.
First off, I am more interested in the best quality video and audio I can get than I am about extras and menus. So, unless the source is a BD25, something has to go.
I've been using Blu-ray copy in "full disc" mode to rip a BD50 source title to hard disc. I use it in "Clone" mode to create an iso of a BD25 source title.
I then burn the BD25 iso with imgburn at half the rated speed of the media. I am using 4x "Merax" media (from Meritline.com - internally identified as Opto media - around $1 to $1.30 each depending on special sale prices) at 2x with a Lite-On burner in my tower.
For a BD50 source, I process in "movie only" mode set for BD25 output keeping the best available audio track (ie. I am retaining the HD Master or TrueHD audio if one is available). I output to a folder on a different internal hard disc - both drives are high speed sata 3. I did this with DVDFab to test, and it worked fine. However, since I have not spent the money to purchase the blu-ray options yet, the program shoves the DVDFab logo in the upper left corner of the output video. I really do not want to waste somewhat expense BD media, so I used a free program to do essentially the same rebuildiing DVDFab does in this step, and burned BD-RB's output using imgburn. If you've already licensed the DVDFab program, then I expect the DVDFab logo appearing in the output when processing video isn't an issue.
So far, I have ended up with 100% excellent results (successful burns, excellent quality when played and perfectly playable). I do not own or use a PS3 - my primary player is a Sony BDP-S1000ES.

Acording to the ImgBurn website and I thought the same thing as you, burning at faster speed is better!!

Also, what is the deal with 'your post will be added once a moderator looks at it.' ??????? Is it because I am new?
Admin Note: Yes, it is because you are new.

Thanks for the guidance! Well, my PS3 plays BR's just fine. I also have a 1080 p TV, so that hasn't been a problem as of yet. As for the turning off cuda, I will confess to being lost when it comes to this...seen it, and thought it was important.

Is there a step-by-step guide to using DVDFab to burn blurays for playback on PS3's? I have seen a lot on imgburn, and it works great, but not as detailed for the PS3 creation. So basically, I turn off HD audio, copy only main movie, and it seems to work fine. So I guess that is it for now...until 50 gigers drop in price. And I did order some rewritable s, so will see how they do. Thanks again for the great advice!

sjgusmc, do normal blurays play ok on your PS3?
when you say the movie plays, you can hear it but cannot see it, this makes me think you have 1080p/24HZ enabled in the PS3 and maybe your TV does not support 24fps? (if this is the case, turn this feature OFF in the PS3)
If regular Blurays play fine, just not your burned ones...then perhaps a setting in FAB is causing this...disable CUDA etc
I understand your desire to keep the whole movie...but when you try to compress down to BD25, you really do sacrifice quality, because you are keeping various things you probably do not need like foreign language, extras etc and this takes up a lot of room which is being compressed with the movie itself.
So if you keep main movie only, and a single audio track...you keep more headroom, compressing the movie less. Just a thought.Last edited by crackinhedz; 01-22-2011, 07:09 PM.

Let me tell you my experiences!! First of memorex media sucks because its not made by memorex!! lowest bidder i.e. ridata or something like that!!! Optical Quantum is hit and miss!!! I recorded The Expendables and it would not play on 1 PS3 but would play on another!! Save your self the time and headache and get some BDRW!! I know TDK works fine!! Now some times I have to have ImgBurn format the disc twice sometimes not!! Its hit and miss there too! But every TDK BDRW I have burnt plays! May have taken a few tries but they all play!! No coasters!

GM all. Been reading alot. So let me ask this...and yes, I am new to bluray burning. I purchased the full version of DVDFab.....copy and ripper. Have only been successful with Firefly series and the hellboy movies (kind of skippy but not bad). I only have a ps3, the fat one. So here are my questions:
1. Can I copy a full movie for playback on the PS3? 25 GB discs without HD video. When I do this, menu and sound is great, but main movie will not play. Well, it is playing but I can't see it. I am sure if I only copied the main movie, it would work (testing that right now). I down loaded the latest version of DVDFab. (Beta)
2. I am using ImgBurn to burn the movie at 2x. This doesn't seem to be the problem. Using the guides linked on here.
3. I have been using optical quantum and memorex 25 gig discs. Again, these are not the problem I feel.
4. I have been using other software for years, with zero glitches. Is there anyway to set DVDFab to make it close to as accurate as these with playback on the PS3? I have read the forum twice, and I feel I am getting closer, but I am missing something. I have burned with and without HD Audio, doesn't seem to matter.
I would like the full disc, but would settle for just the main movie if this would keep my collection of coasters from growing. Thanks for all of your help and input. Sorry if some of these are noob questions....got to start somewhere. Semper Fi!

yeah, Memorex is pretty much a shitty brand altogether.
If you have tried every possible scenario and nothing is working, its probably the disc brand.

all i use are BD-R's. I have been contemplating getting a BD-RE to experiment on so i can stop wasting discs.

twenty valve, try a BD-R instead of a BD-RE.
Might be the way its formatting beforehand.
