PS3 wont play some backups

I backed up some of my blurays. All of them play fine on my PS3 but a couple of them wont load. I tested it out on my PC and they play fine there. It just doesnt load in PS3. Anyone have any ideas?

The ones that I couldnt play are:
Scott Pilgram vs the World
Funny People
Get him to the Greek- although this plays, towards the end it skips and the audio gets out of sync. It fixes itself if i skip back a chapter or fast foward.

1.Update to the latest firmware of your PS3;
2.Try different brand media, please keep away of medias of poor quality;
3.Try different format media like BD-R/RE if your BD writer supports;
4.Check your PS3 support the BD dsic format or not.

I hear your pain Konga, I had these (no play) issues with 8.0.5.0, and they are still continuing with 8.0.5.6.

I suspect the rips you did that worked didn't require recompression?

I strongly suspect the recompression m2ts>m2ts recoder is borked somewhere and the m2ts that is generated is slightly out of spec, or something is different in the header or something. Software players seem to not mind, and I guess some dedicated BD player can handle it too... but the PS3 Bluray player just DOES NOT like them.

Ironman 2 fails over and over and over. No matter what the firmware version on the Ps3, no matter what disc write speed (1x, 2x, 4x, 10x, iso - then burn elsewhere), no matter what compression/decompression (software vs cuda - no difference) algorithm.

The only BD50>BD25 project that I've gotten to work on the PS3, is with Shrek4, and that was because there was no recompression required. The main m2ts was < 25gb..

I'm not sure what the heck is going on.. the resulting m2ts streams can be played on PC.. the resulting BD25 can be played on PC. Just not on PS3.

BTW. I have also tried with Software encoding/decoding, with the same results.. (no play in ps3).

As you can see I have posted the same problem right before your post and as one of the posters said I think its the multiple mts's when compressing the disc as predator played fine on the PS3 I don't think it need compression! But Ironman 2 did play on the PS3 but still had a few skips or I should say pauses! Very small. I have lent Expendables to someone else that has a PS and he is gonna check it out for me! I think its the media that I am using because this problem just started happening!

Which media is poor quality? I haven't heard anything bad about any brand of BD recordables.

My issue is nothing to do with media. I can repeatedly burn Shrek4 (BD50>BD25 with main m2ts 18gb so no recompression needed), and it works. I then attempt to do the same thing with Ironman2, and it ALWAYS FAILS to play on the ps3. The same media, same burn speeds.

It isn't the media.

DVDFab Bluray-copy is failing somewhere... someone else mentioned something to do with long playlists being stuffed up.. but I don't know.

I also tried to copy milllenium & Robin Hood.

But as they play good on Pc, my PS3 ( up to date) does not recognize them !??

( I have Sony media)

kabammi: You have the whole BD structure correct, not just the m2ts files of the BD? With the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders inside? I just wanted to make sure as you mentioned just the m2ts files instead of the blu-ray folder a couple times.

I don't know if the media is the problem with these particular issues, but I have had the best luck burning with "Verbatim Discs" they are the best out there.
