Media Inserted is Not Blu Ray

I've read the other thread concerning this. so i tried to burn using imgburn. i get the following error message:

What's going on? This is a mess trying to burn a blu ray.

also... when i try using VSO i get the "media inserted in drive F is not writable. please insert blank or erasable media." file is 21 G so there should be no need for dual layer blu ray dvd. what's going on? help.

I would go and check out Imgburns forum and search for that error and see what Lightning UK(Maker of Imgburn) has to say about it.

Edit: Also, do you have any other discs you can try to see if it's a disc-related issue?

i don't have any other discs. i thought i had purchased some of the best in Verbatim.

The Plextor PX-B310U is a CD/DVD writer but is only a reader for Blu-Ray. You need to purchase a Blu-Ray writer to burn Blu-Ray discs. For now, you can select BD5 or BD9 and get some blank DVD-Rs.

sorry to be dumb... i know how to select BD5 or BD9... but what exactly is that and how does it differ from standard rip and burn dvd's that i use dvdfab for? thanks. oh... and do you have a recommendation for a similar unit that is external and connects by USB that also writes blu ray discs? thanks again.

[Complication]

BD5/9 uses Blu-Ray disc structure but written to a DVDR disc. They are only playable using a Blu-Ray player (not DVD player). If you want to play back on a DVD player then use the BD to DVD module to create a DVD5 or DVD9.
