        Help Us Help You

If you are posting about an operational problem with one of the DVDFab products, you will improve the speed and accuracy of the response by providing some information in the very first post that will probably be needed.

First, make note of any error codes or messages that appear in popup boxes and put them in your post. Information on error codes that appear in the DVDFab UI are captured in one of the logs we request below.

DVDFab keeps logs of its activities that supply basic system information and can help pinpoint where and when an error happened and help pinpoint the cause. The default location for these logs on most Windows systems is:

        C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

The logs are simple text files that can be opened with Windows Notepad. If the size exceeds the forum’s attachment size limit, you may need to delete older entries or copy and paste the relevant ones into a new file.

dvdfab_internal.log Attach for all problems. Time stamped, most recent at the bottom. Please edit to include only the most recent or relevant log session.

dvdfab_burn_vso.log Attach for all problems. The entries are time stamped with the most recent at the top.

dvdfab_burn_imgburn.log Attach if you have ImgBurn set as the burning engine and the problem concerns disc burning. Time stamped with the most recent at the bottom.

dvdfab_process.log Attach if DVDFab crashes and the crash report window does not come up or complete correctly or if internal error codes appear in the DVDFab window (“Task Failed…”). Time stamped, most recent at the bottom.

        Other Information:

Depending on the nature of the problem, it can help to know:
If this happens with all discs or just one
        Your operating system/CPU/memory configuration
If you are using external hard drives or optical drives
If you have made any recent changes to your OS or system hardware
If you have other DVD or BD software installed, particularly if recently added.

Posts with all the requested information will be answered first.

Not sure what the exact problem is but it is either the burning at max speed for the blank media you are using as you should really be burning at 4x speed not 8x max speed. It may as well be the VSO burn engine problem as well so might be better to install ImgBurn and configure it to work with DVDFab http://forum.dvdfab.com/showpost.php?p=55&postcount=2

Thanks for the reply. I will try burning at a slower speed and see if that helps. Then will try img/burn if that doesn't seem to help. Its weird because most of the time i am able to fast forward and rewind on most movies. Just sometimes it doesn't work. Movie plays fine but just has these little problems. Thanks for the reply!!! Will try your suggestions.

I would switch to Imgburn if I were you either way, as it's generally a better burning engine than the one bundled with DVDFab. Then you can either configure DVDFab to use Imgburn or just launch Imgburn as a standalone program, which is what I do.

Isn't this an ongoing problem with all compressed BD25's using this software? It's been around awhile. I have discs I made a few months ago have this problem.

If it was an ongoing problem the forum would be flooded with posts about the problem. That has not happened so need to rule out the blank media, burn speed and firmware updates for Blu-ray player as they are usually the problem

In the past there was a well documented problem with chapter forward, and fast forward on some disc's. It's seems to have abated with the newer versions, or as the previous poster mentioned, everybody has given up posting about it. Harry Potter was a series i had problems with, among others. I'll have to check some of the newer ones.

True, true most of my back ups played on my Panasonic DMP-BD65 will do chapters , but if you try to FF or rewind , no go and more often then not will restart the movie. But all originals will play properly. But I am happy that I can back-up all of my BDs......thanks again guys

I agree with sonydude1966, for me it has also been a continuous problem with almost all compressed movie files. Since I haven't seen the forum flooded with this issue I've just learned to use the chapter back/ahead function with any compressed movies. Now you've got me wondering if I'm doing something wrong to cause this as well. If anyone else has had this problem and resolved it, I'd be very interested in the solution. I use the Pioneer BDR-205 burner and Optical Quantum media at 4x or 6x burn speeds.
