Using Blu-ray copy app to convert to DVD

I read that the 'DVDFab Blu-ray copy' app can copy blu-ray to DVD, but how do you do this? I was able to use the 'Blu-ray to DVD' app just fine. However, when trying out the 'DVD Fab Blu-ray copy' app, I set the option to 'BD5' since I don't see a 'DVD5' option. The copy fails and ask me to put in a valid disc to copy to.

I'm wanting to convert our children blu-ray discs to DVDs for traveling.
I'm trying out both apps before purchasing, and would prefer the 'DVDFab Blu-ray' copy app if I can figure this out since I would be able to do both blu-ray to blu-ray and blu-ray to DVD.

Ok, there's two entirely different things you're talking about here.
1. Blu-ray Copy is ONLY for blu-rays. When you select the bd-5/bd-9 settings, what your'e basically getting is an AVCHD disc, i.e. it's a blu-ray folder structure on a dvd instead(with BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders). This will NOT play on a regular dvd player, only blu-ray players.
2. Blu-ray to DVD is to actually convert blu-rays to a dvd format with a dvd compliant folder structure(with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders). This will play in either a blu-ray player or dvd player.

So if you're wanting to backup and shrink blu-rays to blu-ray and to dvd, you will have to purchase both modules. I hope I've answered your questions fully. Let us know if you need more clarification.
