Blu Ray copy doesn't play on stand alone

    Hi,
I downloaded the trail version to see if this would work for my system. I have tried to backup two blu ray disks and both have the same problem. The first was How to train your dragon and the second was a planet earth. The summary indicated everything was successfull and I can play it on the computer. When I try to play it on the stand alone Sony BDP-BX1 it does not recognize the disc. I just downloaded the new firmware for BDP-BX1 but that didn't help. See log file below:

    Hi Tyler10

First your drive is in PIO mode, Open Fab Click the Green top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right click OK and restart Fab.

Second I would install ImgBurn as your burn engine, it is "free" and you will find it here along with a tutorial on setting it up with Fab http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=33

    Hope this helps

      Hi, Tyler10,

As the copied disc can play on PC, it maybe a compatibility problem between the standalone player and media, and my suggestion is that you should try using a different brand/format media, or check your BD Player manufacturer's site for a list of recommended media to use, if available.

      Sincerely Yours

        Media is not the problem

Hi thanks for the reply. I have been using this media to record my HD camcorder videos to so i don't think it is the media. Any other thoughts?

yeah since you say it not media issue give ImgBurn a try as the burn engine instead of the built in VSO burn engine like mentioned in post #2 also give it a test with the A/V Codec changed to software for all choices instead of Cuda to see if that works.

It could be your media!!! I purchased 3 BD RE Memorex (ritek) And formatted and burned the same movie on 2 of them and then reburned a TDK BD RE and the TDK played but neither of the Memorex played!! All burned the same way!!
Some machines are real picky!! I was using optical quantum and they would not play on the PS3 but the TDK played fine!!

I tried playing it on a different computer and it worked ok. I will try different media. What media do you suggest. It is wierd that I could play movies from the HD camcorder burnt on this media with that player. I'll post with an update after I try a different brand disc.
