    Error=122

    Using the VSO burning engine to burn a BD-R, I got the following error:

    20:05:14: Burn DVD folder (D:\DVD\MainMovie\INCEPTION\) started
    20:08:56: Task_2 failed! Error=122

    which made a coaster of my disk. I tried to use Nero to burn the movie and it told me there wasn't enough room on my BD-R (it was only 23,098 MB = 22.56 GB). Was this the source of the problem above, and if so, couldn't the burning engine check the disk size like Nero did?
    Optical Quantum 4x BD-R (OQBDR04LT-10) evidently aren't the full size they should be.

    Here is the VSO log:

    Right off, several problems.
    Your burner is in PIO mode. Please click the Reset DMA tab within Fab.
    With luck, that will take care of the DMA issue.

    Your burner/firmware may not "like" the media you're using, but you're burning too fast. Additionally, VSO can be problematic for many users.

    Suggest you change burn engines to Img (freeware) and reduce your burn speed to no more than 4X.

    There used to be an excellent video tutorial , but the author closed his account on Youtube.
    There's a link in my sig to get you started, meanwhile I'll try to find and link a previous post of mine

    //Edit
    Here's that link I mentioned:

    Start about 1/2 way down with "Download link"

    If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

      Hi, Wayne_P,

      This error ( Task 2 Error 122 ) may be caused by compatibility problems, the blank media is poorly supported by your BD drive.

      Please try the following to see if the problem can be fixed:

      1). Open "Common Settings" window in the upper right corner of DVDFab main screen, click on "General", click on "Reset DMA";
      2). Slow down the burning speed: Please click the round green icon button with a check mark at the right top corner of the DVDFab screen, open "Common Settings" window, click on "write", change the write speed to 2.x.
      3). Try different media of well-known brands, keep away of those of poor quality;
      4). Update to the latest firmware of BD writer;

      Sincerely Yours

        Thanks for the response

        OK, I reset the DMA and changed to ImgBurn. I set the speed to 4x as that is what the disks are rated at. I noticed in Nero that it believes it could write at 8x on these disks, so the VSO burner was probably using that speed. Since my disks are smaller than BD25, I chaged the "BD25 size" to the free space on my disks (23098 MB). It would have been nice if the VSO noticed the mismatch in size and notified me like Nero did, but this should solve my potential disk size problem in the future.

        These are the only BD-R disks that I know work on my LG WH10LS30 burner (I have a set of Verbatim that are not recognized at all in my drive).

        I ended up burning the disk in Nero (after removing the HD audio to reduce the size). But, the movie was "Inception" and there was an audio sync problem that has been noted elsewhere. Thus, I was zero for two on this movie. I have burned a few BD movies before successfully with these disks, so it was a bit of bad luck with this movie.

        By the way, I have Nero Express 10 which can't be called from DVDFab to burn (no nerocmd.exe). It would be nice if DVDFab could make a project file for Nero to burn.
