BD50 Copy of "Three Kings" doesn't play

Just backed up "Three Kings" without any errors using imgburn as burn engine. Played in 2 different players (Vizio and Samsung). The disc loads and appears to be "playing" a title, but there is no video and it ultimately stops and the player displays "TOP". Original BD plays fine. I attached the log files to this post. I have noticed this type of problem with a couple of other titles, but with earlier versions of DVDFab (Knight and Day and Sorcerer's Apprentice). Those titles "hung" on something before they even got to the disc menu. I have always backed up discs in full disc mode using the appropriate size blanks to accomodate them. I know a lot of forum members just back up the main movie or compress to use BD25 media, but I guess I'm fussy. Why bother to back up a Blu-ray if it won't play like one when you're done? Has anyone encountered this problem and, better yet, figured out how to prevail? Thanks.

      Hi Rsnims2
I am confused buy your logs as to why you did not get a failed burn
      Pulled from your log
      I 13:21:55 Size: 34,270,693,306 bytes
      I 13:21:55 Destination Media Type: BD-R (Disc ID: MEI-T01-001) (Speeds: 2x)
Is this a single layer disc??? Reason for asking is that there is no way that you can fit that file size on a single layer disc with out compression.

There is a newer version of ImgBurn and you will find it here http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

          Hi DiabloZoe
I realize he is outputting to BD50 according to his thread title, but that size will not fit on a BD-R 25 Gb disc.
I do not do Blu-Ray at the moment, and maybe not seeing BD-R DL in the ImgBurn logs is what is confusing me.
I know that there are enough sectors on the disc compared to the file size sectors.

          @ Rsnims2
Do you also have any on the fly decrypter running in the back ground...pulled from your internal log 2m 45.26s: aacs 0 bd+ 0
there is no copyright on this disc.

Sorry did not know you were looking at the ImgBurn Log, but here is mine and it does not say anything about burning a BD-DL which I did. I use windows to format my BD-DL and I only get a 1x write speed even though the discs are 1-2x I wounder if I let ImgBurn format if I will get the 2x??

My original post already stated that there was no problem completing the burn and that's why the log doesn't show it. After I made my original post, I went back and analyzed the disc and concluded that I could backup the main movie to a BD25 without requiring any compression - unfortunately I had to eliminate the director's commentary to do it. This disc played fine in both players (I wasn't willing to waste another $11 BD50 on this title). Now I have a theory and it applies to all three titles that I mention in my original post: I believe that the disc loads some java code as part of the menu or other miscellaneous stuff that takes so long and then checks to see if the disc is protected (like the cinavia does). If it is, then fine, but if not, it sends the load routine to never never land - no menu displays and nothing you try from the remote will let you access any other titles on the disc. Unfortunately, the recent fix for cinavia does not enable the protected disc feature unless the disc actually has cinavia, so I couldn't test my theory. I sincerely hope that the next beta makes it possible to protect any disc regardless of whether cinavia is present or not because I really think that this is why these titles behave as they do. It would also be helpful to maintain a list of the affected titles as is currently being done for the cinavia discs to prevent our making so many expensive coasters.

I have never backed up any old movies so I cant speak for them but I did do Knight And Day and did not have any problem, but I did movie only! And you are saying you are having a problem when you do a 1:1 copy? to a BD50?

Yes - in fact that is my "normal" way of doing things. Much of the enjoyment of collecting films comes from going back and looking at some of the special features or listening to the commentaries. I found a few good deals (comparatively) for BD50s on Amazon. I recently picked up a 10-disc spindle of printable Sony BD50s for $109. That's a little pricey, but still reasonable compared to what they were goiing for a year ago.
I just now completed extracting the main movie from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" BD50 backup that wouldn't play earlier using DVDFab/imgburn and this disc plays perfectly - proving that the backup was OK except for whatever validation that was going on when my player tried to load it. My preference is to have the complete package, however.
