Make sure you are using the latest version of ImgBurn to create the protected disc. Also make sure your Blu-ray drive supports burning a protected disc

I am using the latest Imgburn release and my burner is a brand new Pioneer BDR206 and I was unable to find any FW updates for the drive. I am trying the process again using DVDFabs internal burning software instead.

      Any other suggestions?

        Hi bigbwb
I am not sure as to what you problem is but, if you need the latest firmware for your drive here it is

Note: Make sure to follow instructions on flashing your drive or it may become a door stop.

Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

Thanks for the link! I will download it and I checked and the current driver is quite old. What do you mean by Flash the drive? I dont want to screw anything up.

I also tried to use DVDfabs internal VSO burner and got the same results:

I guess I will try to update the driver and copy it again. I wont get to it for a bit though.

Flashing is the term used when you update your firmware in your drive.
Most come with an installer and they re pretty straight forward.

Note: Make sure to follow instructions on flashing your drive or it may become a door stop.

Interesting website. I noticed this site has firmware releases that the original manufacturer does not. Is that something to be concerned about?

Which particular fw are you referring to? If the one linked by CBR929 then yes, Pioneer has that firmware on their support site http://pioneer.jp/device_e/product-e/ibs/device_e/dev00001r_e.html As far as I know Firmware HQ only post official fw releases and no custom firmwares.

I only use Firmware HQ for my drives, I have even flashed an OEM drive with their firmware.
Half the time you go to the manufactures site it seems your searching forever

You know, I am not sure. I was trying to make a cinavia protected copy of the disc, what should I have chose instead? The disc needs to play on my PS3.

                        Thanks.

If I download the driver from one of the sites listed in this thread. Can I just go under device manager, open up the hardware section, and click the optical drive and select update driver and browse for the file I downloaded?

                          Thanks,

                            Hi bigbwb
No, as you are not updating the driver you are updating the firmware for the Optical drive,Windows installs the "drivers" automatically for your Optical drive.

Firmware is released for Optical drives for a number of reasons media support, burn problems, and also makes them burn faster.

As I stated in previous post it is not really that hard, most come with an installer.
Download the file click save> then there should be a pop up screen > open folder > double click on the file, it should say something like you are going to install firmware version from xxx to xxx click yes and it will flash your drive and you may have to restart your computer and your done.
                            Hope this helps

I know people make ISO's to play on the computer with certain PC players, but I don't think you need to burn one for a protected disc. I would just burn like burning a normal BD and use the protected disc option. Also drivers and FW updates are totally different, drivers make your components work in windows. When you flash something you are writing to a chip in the component e.g. your bios chip on your motherboard or the chip inside the optical drive. Windows will keep you current on drivers!
