    DTS-HD vs. ac3/5.1

I'm pretty new to this technology and need some advice.
Is it better to copy Blu-ray DVDs using DTS-HD or ac3/5.1?
I have a 7 channel setup and both DTS and 5.1 sound good using AVATAR. I noticed selecting to remove the DTS-HD audio saves some disc space but I can't hear any difference. So which is best to use...DTS-HD (w/o HD audio) or ac3/5.1??

DTS-HD is the way to go!! If you select the AC3 channel make sure you don't get the directors commentary if there is any!! You have a 7.1 set up th reason you might not hear the diff is the processing you receiver does!

I always use the dts hd for my backups. Since i have a surround sound i want the best sound possible. I haven't notice any picture quality loss using the dts hd audio even though it does use more gb. If you can't notice a difference in sound then i would use the one that uses less gb so u get less compression. I can notice a difference in some movies when using dts hd over ac3 5.1. Especially in movies that have alot of special effects in them. Then there are other movies that u can't tell that much difference. I think it depends alot on the surround sound receiver & what kind of speakers u are using. Good speakers make a big difference in sound but u also have to have a good receiver to push out that sound to your speakers. Never go the cheap route when it comes to a receiver. Alot of people make this mistake and wish they would have bought a better receiver. I have a pioneer 1120k receiver this receiver sounds real good. I heard alot of people like the onkyo receivers i don' t know if they are any better or not. I recommend keeping the dts hd. But that is my opinion.

Thanks for the advice. I have a Yamaha AV recieved and its got more than enough punch. I just started trying to backup my movies and AVATAR was the first. Guess I'll go the DTS HD route too.
