    Blu-ray Reading/Scanning Issue

    Hello everyone,

I will need your help with the blu-ray media reading / scanning issue. Here are the details:

I installed the latest version 6205.

I was able to get ONE out of four BD movies to be read/scanned.

Journey to the Center of the Earth (with Brendan Fraser) - able to read / scan. No problems.

Total Recall - NOT able to read / scan. DVDFab crashed. See attached log.

The Dark Knight - NOT able to read / scan. DVDFab crashed. See attached log.

Gladiator - NOT able to read / scan. DVDFab crashed. See attached log.

DVDFab for DVD's and DVDFab DVD to Mobile work perfectly.

I checked to see if Windows Firewall allows DVDFab 6 to go through and it is checked.

Please advise as to why the three out of the four BD titles would not read / scan?

Dell XPS 420 with two separate drives:

    PLDS BD RE DH-4B1S

    TSSTCorp DVD+-RW TSH653B

    Windows 7

Any other information that is needed to assist me on resolving this?

    Thanks for the help.

    Eric

It appears that you are trying some BD+ disks.

BD+ is not supported in 6.2.0.5. This is clearly stated in the release notes.

You will have to go back to 6.2.0.2 Beta.

Thanks for replying GregiBoy. Please look at the attached logs - it says BD+ 0 that means no BD+; is that correct? I did tried 6.2.0.2 - same results.

      Please advise.

        Hi Eric,

I'm not the Blu-Ray expert on this forum so we'll have to wait for one of my more knowledgable colleagues on that topic to take up your post.

Please do not forget though that the Blu-Ray features of DVD Fab are a continual work in progress.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

PS: Is this computer connected to the Internet as I understand that this sort of problem can occur when it is not?

Hi GregiBoy, yes the computer is always connected to the internet. It is connected using the dsl line (Linksys router and modem). The Windows Firewall has been set so that it would allow DVDFab to go through. It is strange to see that one BD title worked but not the other three BD titles that I mentioned even when they all don't have the BD+ protection. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Yes I know that Fengtao and Team are working hard to continually improve the Blu-ray features.

I just purchased Gladiator tonight and will test it (region A disc).

Edit: Just tried Gladiator and Fab opened it without a problem.
I have the two disc version (purchased at wally world) but not tried disc two

Not sure if this is the problem you're having but since Fab does need an internet connection, I noticed the dates on your log 2009/11/11 and about that time their download server was kinda slow. Might try again to see the result and Like I said it's just a guess and most likely I'm wrong about the server issue...

Hi Wild and Blue, thanks for trying Gladiator. I tried this BD title again and DVDFab still crashed for some reason. This is really strange because like I said from the top, one of the four BD titles worked. Any ideas?

Why is the log that I posted for Gladiator different from the log that Wild and Blue posted? Take a look at mine (Unit key not found ) - what does that mean? From Wild and Blue's log, there is a unit key found. Does that mean something? Any other observations from my log that will bring attention when comparing to Wild and Blue's log?

                      Hi eric_terminator,
not quite sure what that means, but I am more interested in your setting and whether your drive are current in terms of firm ware updates.
in common setting..> DVD/BD..> Read ..> I/O mode auto ..> cache Control checked ..> Blu-ray ..> file reading mode internal (UDF 2.50 parser +I/O) lets take a look at these and if that doesn't work get back to us

Hello touchdown_1, I checked the settings and they are all correct per your instructions.

My BD drive is PLDS DH-4B1S SATA BD-RE with firmware 7D16. I checked the Dell website and it appears to be the current version (PER the Dell website).

This is for the Dell XPS 420.

What bothers me is the Wild and Blue's log is totally different from mine. The question is why? And why did ONLY one title worked but not the other 3 that I mentioned?

Have you retried the title that worked after the 3 didn't?

Don't know why that unit key doesn't show on your logs, could be a bad press, not saying it is but could be.
how is your storage capacity, and ram, just for grins, try rebooting your rig, then try to rip a BD to your HDD.
                            let me know the results.thanks

Hi GregiBoy, yes sir, many times. Never fails. The other 3 always fail. When I tried Gladiator (as an example since it worked for Wild and Blue), DVDFab crashed. Then I tried Journey to the Center of the Earth and DVDFab had no problems opening the disk. Isn't that strange? See attached logs.

                              Please advise.
