    Motion skip

On many of my titles using Blu ray copy, I get a motion skip randomly through
the course of the movie. This happens on a couple of different stand-alone Bluray players.

Has anyone had similar issues. Is it something I'm doing wrong in my process???

I got same problem occasionally. I think problem is related to some Blu-ray having two or more different lenght versions in them (like theatrical, extended and directors cut versions). First I thought it must be something I did wrong or it was media problem but now that I think of this, it only happens with movies having different versions of the movie AND when I back up the longer version using the movie only option.

I just last night did The Other Guys selecting the Extended version. There were something like 10 or so times during the movie where it suddenly skipped a little or picture was "paused" but time did run and it resumed back to movie. I think those were places were additional material of extended version was supposed to be added. I was using the latest DVDFab 8.0.8.5 for this movie.

Earlier I had the same issue with Knight and Day and Eat Pray Love. Those I also did selecting the longer version and movie only option.

I never use compression so it is not the issue here. The last one was with Cinavia but other two not.

I suspect problem is that DVDFab has some problem with Seamless branching they use often in blu-ray containing several versions of the same movie. Just like these all examples I listed here do.

Could you please look in to this problem and try to find solution because it is annoying problem and very hard to see until you actually watch the whole movie because it only happens in certain places?

I attached my logs from The Other Guys so you can see there are no errors listed there.

        Hi r__
Your drive is in PIO mode, Open Fab Click the Green top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right click OK and restart Fab.

You may also have better results using ImgBurn as your burn engine, it is "free" and you will find it here along with a tutorial on setting it up with Fab http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=33 ,remember to set up the AWS in ImgBurn ans set you burn speeds to 1/2 the rated speed of the media you are using.

          pausing and skipping

          Hi Guys
Wanted to add my 2 cents. Same thing happened with tangled backup. Pauses and skips in certain parts of the disk. Tried many different methods. Used vso and then imagburn. Copied to hdd and to the disk. Each one had the pauses and skips in the same places. I did not have the dma issue last user mentioned, and used various burn methods. Problems did not exist on any prior fab downloads, only for the most recent update. Thanks for your help. Buster

There is a problem with the latest version 8.0.8.5
Had problem with both DESPICABLE ME and COP OUT
Both there has lots of m2ts files.
Disks with single m2ts works OK.

Redid both disk with version 6.2.1.8 (the most stable version) with no problem

Wanted to add my 2 cents. Same thing happened with tangled backup. Pauses and skips in certain parts of the disk. Tried many different methods. Used vso and then imagburn. Copied to hdd and to the disk. Each one had the pauses and skips in the same places. I did not have the dma issue last user mentioned, and used various burn methods. Problems did not exist on any prior fab downloads, only for the most recent update. Thanks for your help. Buster
              Hi bustervegas
Maybe if you post your logs we may be able to help.

Please post your logs the default location is:
              For Win7 C:\Users\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
              or Vista C:\Users\User Name\Documents\DVDFab\Log
              or for XP C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
Please use attachment button and attach your most recent, Internal and Burn log(s) and post right here.

Did you also view the rip to the HDD, and did it also have the same pauses or just the burned disc???

Your drive is in PIO mode, Open Fab Click the Green top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right click OK and restart Fab.

You may also have better results using ImgBurn as your burn engine, it is "free" and you will find it here along with a tutorial on setting it up with Fab http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=33 ,remember to set up the AWS in ImgBurn ans set you burn speeds to 1/2 the rated speed of the media you are using.

Pio mode reported is just a bug in the DVDFab when using VSO engine. It is running DMA in reality. Also this is not a burning problem, I've used IMGburn with same results. Problem obviously has something to do with seamless branching. It only occurs with such titles.

                  pauses and skips

                  Hi CBR 229
Thank you as well as others for your help with fab products.
I did copy both ways-to dvd and then to hdd with same result.
I will be happy to send burn logs but will be later since I am on another computer at work. I do want to observe forum rules but thought there was a thread explaining how to play the hdd now with cyberlink power dvd. Maybe not. Need to find out how to play on computer from hdd. I thought of that but that is why I did both to hdd with imgburn and vso and also to disk with both. Same pauses and skips. Saw that others had similar or same problem and thought it might not be user error as many times it is.

I suspect the same although the cause remains a tad murky.
I'm guessing that this behavior is not reproduced when played back from the hdd files.

I have almost all my BD discs packed up for my move, but let me rummage a bit and see what I come up with.
I do have Knight ans Day and several others on various hdds.
I've never seen this behavior, but I watch everything via a media player and hdds.
I've never burned a BD disc in my life.

Cyberlink is not the best choice and is a PITA...sorry, JMO
Please playback your hdd files with Media Player Classic.
It's free and easy to use...very intuitive.

However, if any of the files are .ISO, you must mount these on a virtual drive in order to play.
DVDFab Virtual Drive is an obvious choice and still free.

Here's a link for Media Player Classic:

I also had problems with movies freezing up such as Jackass 3,Tangled. Have found out that if you go back to dvdfab version 8.0.7.3 no freezing problems with movies. Here is link for older versions. www.oldapps.com/dvdfab.php

                        Seamless branching problem with blu-rays

I agree with these comments. I recently tried backing up Ratatouille and Toy Story 3 on blu-ray with version 8085 - main movie only. Both these disks are seamless branching where there are numerous m2ts files and there is no compression necessary since the movie will fit on a 25GB disk. There are several places on the movie where it will skip anywhere from a few seconds to over a minute. However, non-seamless branching movies copy with no problems.

After perusing this forum, others stated the same problem with movies that are seamless branching and they suggested going back to version 8073. I tried that as an experiment and the backups played fine with no problems at all. Now, I'm reluctant to update to a new version until this bug is fixed.

Is Mr. Fengtao or his team aware of this problem? As far as I can see, there has been no official announcement regarding this particular problem. It would be nice to hear some encouraging words from someone in charge. I love this product and purchased a lifetime Blu-ray license. I've been watching DVDFAB evolve over the past few years and really appreciate all the work that has gone into it.
