Thank you guys for the help, I just need a little clarification before I can proceed and tell you of the results.

j&b: I'm not sure why it's saying that the disc is a BD-RE because it's just a regular BD-R. I'm using Optical Quantum 25GB BD-R, the regular standard ones... I'm not sure if I need to do something special to format it (?)

CBR929: I'm going to try your advice tonight but I just want to make sure I do it correctly. It was my understanding that you can't make an ISO out of a protected Cinavia disc and have it work. If you could just give me a real basic tutorial on how to rip the full movie to my HDD and then compress it and burn all as a protected disc that would be much appreciated!

I'll post back my results as soon as I've followed your advice, thanks!

correction I'm sorry I just read and understood your disregard statement applying to the rip to the HDD and burn. I'll go ahead and try a clean uninstall with the cleaner you recommended and a reinstall and retry it tonight and post back later.

As I said in my post, or maybe you had missed the "EDIT"
Also do not compress from your drive, always save to your HDD and then open Fab back up and compress to another spot on your drive as this will save wear and tear on your Blu-Ray drive.
EDIT please disregard last statement as I just noticed you were doing a protected disc.

I have used CCleaner for years and never has it screwed up my computer.
The cleaner page I leave everything as default, click run cleaner and let it clean up all the junk.
The "Registry" tab everything is checked as default click "scan for issues" click "fix selected issues" and it offers to back up the changes to the registry just in case something goes wrong, that is up to you, I just click "no" fix all selected issues and some times I will run it more than once to make sure that everything is fixed.
Let me say this again I have never had CCleaner screw up my computer by doing the way I explained.
          Hope this helps

            Yet another fail.

I did a full uninstall with CCleaner as well. After a restart I reinstalled DVDFab and tried the copy again. The same exact failure occurred. It's odd because the burner doesn't even eject the original disc before it fails even though it says ImgBurn starts. It finishes all it's compressing and gets to where it would usually eject the disc and open ImgBurn but as soon as it gets to this point it fails. I'm including a screen shot of my DVDFab in the attachments so you can see what I see and the log is posted below as well:

It's saying that the disc is a BD-RE because the disc reports itself as such... so that takes the number of question marks to 2.
I understand that you picked Optical Quantum probably because they were cheap, but those 2 mistakes indicate that the discs are not 100% up to the standard. So you would expect all sorts of errors when dealing with them. Personally I would not trust such discs for backup.

For clarification, here are the 2 mistakes:
              1. No assigned manufacturer code reported (it reports 000)
              2. The disc is BD-R and it reports itself as BD-RE.

You can take this as those discs are not compatible with protected backup; ie. substandard. Sorry.

Wow, that's interesting because I've made several protected discs that were Optical Quantum with no issues whatsoever. However, I honestly don't think they will retain the data over the test of time. To be certain your information will withstand the test of time, I would definitely recommend TDK or other high quality BD media.

Good to know. Could you please post a log from a successful writing of a protected backup with Optical Quantum? It would be nice to see if the discs from your lot had the same 2 non-standard issues.

Dont rule out the fact that your drive could be burned out! I had issues with my LGBH08 burning BDRE media and I know you are using BDR sometimes I would get the this is a double layer disc message, but after buying a new drive I have not had an issue since!

Had a similar problem so I returned my drive to the store where I bought it and they sad it had a s___ty head or something, replaced it and never had a problem since then.
If your drive is still in guarantee period maybe try to replace it, costs nothing and maybe can solve your problem.

Are you talking about this from the OPs original logs?

                        90m 06.43s: Writer drive: E
                        90m 06.45s: Vendor: HL-DT-ST
                        90m 06.50s: Product: BD-RE GGW-H20L

                        And this?

                        90m 08.81s: Disc is BD-R, man=0x003

Because I see the brand drive that's used to burn them and the fact that it recognizes it as BD-R. Where did you get that it wasn't providing the manufacturer of the disc and that it was reading it as BD-RE?

I don't think you are understanding properly.. It can't have anything to do with the optimum discs because it never even gets to a point where I insert one! The copy of the original social network disc finishes and then the failure occurs before it even ejects the original blu ray so it obviously has nothing to do with that. If it is saying anything is a BD-RE it must be thinking the original source social network is some sort of BD-RE.. So that can't be the issue..

In regards to the drive being burnt out I don't know if this is the case because it still copies regular blu rays perfectly without a single problem or error yet. It has something to do with only protected disc copies..

Does the sudden deadness of responses on this thread mean everyone is out of ideas or solutions?.. :/ Although judging from the number of views I see on this thread, I'm guessing I'm not the only one who has run into this seemingly unsolvable problem...

Yes, that means we're definitely stumped. It seems to me like your drive is basically affected by cinavia protection. Of course I haven't heard of any cases yet where it affects blu-ray drives but this may be an indication.
