    BR Newbie > General questions

    Hi all,

Looking forward to breaking in the new BR writer drive this weekend, but a few quick questions first:

    1) any general consensus on most reliable/stable BR media? The best "deals" I'm seeing are Verbatim LTH, but I'm a little concerned about the "LTH" and some of the reviews about incompatibility

    2) whatever media is chosen, is it a best practice to burn at the rated speed (i.e. 4x) or to go less than that?

    Thanks!

I use the LTH disks. Got them at Amazon $27.99 for 20 last time I bought them. My burner is a Lite-on 212, my player is panasonic which plays them. No issues so far.

I know alot of people are having problems with LTH, they are made with the same press that DVD's are pressed on. I use TDK and have not had a bad burn. As for burning speeds it's mixed, the best burn engine to use is ImgBurn and talking with some of the guys that have been around for a while said it's better to burn with a faster speed. I use 50gb and they only burn at 2x, and guys on the board here will tell you to burn at slower speeds.
