    compressed video playback stutters

I have an issue where recently with DVDFAB where almost all my compressed BD-R movies are exhibiting video stutter. I use DVDFAB to rip and compress to BD-25. Then created iso on hard drive and mounted. I then played via PowerDVD10. The video exhibits stutter. I have seen this on several movies.

In order to rule out or in the system, source BD, and PowerDVD player. I ripped the same disk to my hard drive using other software. I then made an iso on the hard drive and mounted it. It played back fine without any issues.

There has been another similar report where the poster was able to work around the problem for now. Use Main Movie BD50 and select the hard drive as the destination (not ISO) then use DVDFab again to make the BD25 ISO you desire.

Try to burn slower, meaning don't burn the disc as fast as it will handle. In my experience, it's best to burn at half the rate of the stated media, if you're having these stuttering issues using the recommended highest media setting. I used to have these same issues only on DVD media that was burned at 16X on certain players, so I slowed it down to 8X and it solved the issue. On BD-Rs you'll have to come to a happy medium when it comes to burning. I know some people state they can get 6X-8X out of some BD media that is listed as only supported up to 4X - I would not recommend doing this! For my 4X BD media, I stick to 4X and haven't had any problems with playback.

        Hi Complication,

Tried your suggestion. Unfortunately, I have the same result. The video stutters. Is it possible I have a codec issue?

I did some more testing on this. I ripped the main movie to BD50 to hard disk. This did not involve any compression. I then created an iso on my hard drive of this. I then mounted it and played the video from my hard drive and it played without any video stutter.

I then used DVDFAB to convert the ripped to hard drive BD50 main movie to a BD25. I then converted BD25 to iso on my hard drive and played. The video stutters . This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the way dvdfab is compressing the BD movies. This has been happening on several of my BD25 movies. Is it possible I have a codec issue?

Have you tried setting all codecs to software?

I had this issue a couple of times, here is a workaround:

                  - Rip the disc (main movie, BD50) and then compress it to BD25
                  - look for the M2TS file in the "stream" directory and convert it to "TS" with TsMuxer (it's a matter of minutes)
                  - rename the extension of the file obtained from TS to M2TS
                  - stuttering gone....

The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder (Alfred Hitchcock)

                    Hi etabeta,

Unfortunately, this isn't working for me. In tsMuxer I added under stream folder the m2ts file. I then enabled output for "TS muxing". This then created a ts file which renamed to *.m2ts file (moving the old m2ts file to a backup location). I then played on powerdvd and it hung it. Had to kill the process.
