Blu Ray to Bluy Ray -MAIN TITLE-Reencode Time

I am using Win XP, 3.0 ghz, 4 MB Ram with DVDFab 6.2.0.5
I wanted to back up the main title of my copy of Casino Royale. After I deselected all but English audio, the program was going to reencode 26.5 GB to 23.? GB. The reencode process lasted approx 29 hours and the actual burn less than one hour. Is this normal reencode time? Is there a faster way to reencode? If I used say a Intel Core 2, Quad CPU @ 2.4 Ghz, how much faster would the reencode be?

The more cores you have the better. Also, if your video card is CUDA capable, this will also help when re-encoding your movie. I have a dual core 2.0 ghz processor and a Geforce 9600M GT card in my laptop. I can re-encode move only in approximately 4.5 hours going from 20 - 25 Gigs to 8. Not bad considering the from and to ratio.

        Yeah, that's about right.

After switching to Intel Core 2, Quad CPU @ 2.4 Ghz and a CUDA based video card, I am now able to reencode in about 3.5 hours. The old computer reencoded at 0.3 m/s, the Quad CPU is reencoding at 3.9 m/s. Thanks for the advice.

what info/ data is lost when you reencode and shrink the size to fit the main movie on 25GB

You loose a little bit of the finer (and I do mean finer, since you really have to look for them) details. The image might not be quite as crisp but it's barely noticeable.
