    Barry Lyndon will not Open

As with a few others on here I cannot open a recently bought bluray, Barry Lyndon. DVDFAB recognizes it and starts the process of opening but the drive shuts down and after a few minutes DVDFAB hangs and asks to be shutdown. I have since tried DVDFAB with a few older titles and everything works fine. I'm using the latest Beta.

      Hi arcadeforest
Please try updating your drives firmware found here

NOTE: if you do not know how to flash your drive,do not do it, it will render your drive useless, and you take full responsibility for flashing your drive.

I had this problem along time ago with some movies. I found that starting the movie up with PowerDvd or what ever other program that you may have to watch a blue ray on your drive first. When the movie starts to play on what ever program you have then start dvdfab to open the movie. Usually about a minute or so fab will open the movie up then you can turn off the other program that you are playing the movie and start your backup. Hope this will work for you. It has worked for me in the past. If this doesn't work try going back to older version 8.0.7.3 this version seems to work much better than the latest versions with less problems. Here is the link

Thanks for the suggestions but I can't get it to work. Not willing to try the firmware update just to make a backup as I am not having this problem with other discs I own. Don't have PowerDVD so thats a no go. I'll check to see if they have a trial version. Willing to hear from anyone else who has these two titles (Barry Lyndon and Legend) and their luck with getting DVDFAB to work with them. Thanks again for the help.

Same shutdown has happened with Barry Lyndon and Legend as previously mentioned. One thing I would like to add is that the Peter Pan (2003 Live Action Version) did the same thing over the weekend but I did not mention it here because I figured I had given you enough to look at. Well Peter Pan worked today. I'll post the logs of all three, hopefully this helps.

                    Hi arcadeforest

I understand you are reluctant to update your firmware, but the reason that the have firmware updates is for better read and write support for the drive.

I probably should give it a try I would just hate to ruin the drive over making a backup of a few movies when it seems to work fine for everything else. I'll see if the team comes up with something for this or if I continue to have problems with other movies I may give it a go. Thanks for the suggestion and I meant no disrespect when I mentioned I was not willing to give the update a try, I guess I'm just being a wimp. Thanks.

                        Hi arcadeforest
No offense taken, as I understand you would not want anything to happen to the drive.
