ok back to one of my original questions. I back up the disc using "Full Disc" to my hdd with no compression (50gb). Then I open that file in the source menu of dvdfab. I then compress it to the target menu. If I "target" the same file I get a prompt that says "this file already exists do you want to overwrite it?"
If I say yes than my original back up to the hdd no longer is usable. If I say no nothing happens. Don't I have to type in and name another folder to compress to 25 gb? If that's not right please advise what I am to do.
No you don't have to target the same file path, but you can if you wish.
If you prefer to retain the original, then simply target a new location.
You don't have to do one as opposed to the other; it depends what you want.
You can have multiple files of the same movie in various stages of compression or formats, but you don't have to
Hope this helps

The result in retaining the 2 files will be 60 to 70gb of space used as opposed to 15 to 23 gb of space for just the 1 file. It's up to use as mainman has stated. Saving the full disc is not equal to having the original disc, if you have issues or want to change something you might still need the original disc.
For Win7 C:\Users\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
or Vista C:\Users\User Name\Documents\DVDFab\Log
or for XP C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

Yes you can type a new name I just add BD25 at the end of file name.
Like this "TRANFORMERS_BD25"
Windows 7 64bit ultimate
CPU: i7 4770K @4.5 vcore@1.28v temps 27c/67c
RAM: 16GB DDR3 @2133
GPU: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB
SSD: 2 X 60GB OCZ vertex 3 RAID 0 (boot drive)
HHD: 1 TB WD BLK (storage and back up)
PSU: 760W ,Fans 1x200mm and 2x120mm
Lets try this again:
My main goal is to burn a back up of a 50 gb disc to a 25 gb disc.
Most times just a "main movie" backup. But once in a blue moon a "Full movie" backed up to a bd25 disc.
Step 1) Back up full movie to the hdd
Step 2) Use hdd file in the source option and target the blank 25gb disc
Doing this I can back up a "main movie" usually with no compression and no problem. Good copy and write time. BUT whenever compression is involved(no matter if its "Full disc" or "Main movie" there is some serious time used to compress (sometimes 8 to 11 hours). I guess with my system that's what i have to live with unless someone can direct me to a better solution?

You hit the nail on the head. It is basically a great deal of math for your processor. The only way to help is by getting better hardware. Some people have reported good results with a new video card that supports CUDA. However, given your 8-10 hour time frame, I'm guessing that you have an older PC that may not be able to completely keep up with (or even install) a high-end video card.
Sorry, with Blu-ray video compression you have ventured into an area where processing power is the name of the game.
Follow DiabloZoe's advice in post #3 and chances are this is going to optimize your compression times.
As already stated, your rig is on the slow side. Nothing personal here, no criticism intended, but it is what it is.
It does seem a bit long though, even for your rig.
If you want to post the logs as you compress and burn to a BD25, we'll be glad to have a look and if possible, offer more specific suggestions.
//Edit
Oops, slow again, but at least I'm consistent...

Just back from a little vacation. Here what my system is again. I know its slow but don't have the cash to upgrade to a new computer. Also here's the log for a movie that took about 55 minutes to back up to my hdd. Then took 7hours to compress and write. Any advise that can speed up the compression process would be appreciated! I know the media used is not recommended but it's what i have right now. Writing's not my issue. Compression time is.
I am running: Windows Vista Home Premium with a Amd Athlon(tm) Dual Core
Processor 4050e. It has 3.00 GB Ram and Graphic card:NVIDIA GeForce 6150se nForse 430. My writer is a LG Wh10ls30 with the lastest firmware update installed. I have 200 gb of free space on my hard drive. I have latest version of DvdFab blu ray copy installed.

Hi unclebubbies
This has been said many times in this thread, unless you make changes to your CPU, or buy a decent GPU to help in the compressing, you will never get better times compressing unless the movie needs no compression.
