Salt Blu-Ray to DB9 burn problem

Tested Salt (Blu-Ray) to DB9 with version 8.1.0.5 Qt and there was a problem during the burning process. Got to 54% and failed.

First off, your drive is in PIO mode, it must be be in UDMA mode

    2011-08-26 01:24:23 Info PIO Mode.

The Moser Baer media you're using is pretty crappy stuff. Tough to tell if your burner and firmware will be happy with this stuff since the burner is stuck in PIO.

Do yourself a favor and pick up some Verbatim +R DL (made in Singapore).

I also had recommended disabling Lightning-Recoding in your last thread.
Although I don't think this is a major player in this instance, I'd still disable it.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

      maineman,

Here is my suggestion to the software developers. The suggestion is please make the software work for the customers under "default" settings. What is the point of making the software not working under default settings and tell the customers to change their settings.

Most customers like me will probably not understand what the heck is PIO and UDMA mode. We just use the software with the default settings.

The DVD+R DL 8.5 GB that I am using is made my Kodak. I don't know how good is it, but it is working fine with all the other software besides DVDFab. So what does this tell you?

Also, one of the advertised feature of DVDFab is the "Lightning-Recoding" technology. What is the point of making and advertising a technology when the customers have to disable it? Either they have to fix the bugs, or remove the technology altogether. It is just like telling the customers that this car model have a built in cruise control technology, but it doesn't work, you will have to remove it to use the car. I think you get my idea here.

      Take care.

As to arguments re: Fab software, you're preaching to the choir.
I have absolutely no ties to the development of said software.
I used to help with moderating this forum, but the truth is I'm just a customer/user like everyone else.

        As to PIO/UDMA.
This is strictly a windoz issue (not Fab) and there are a number of methods to rectify it,
starting with a simple Reset DMA tab in Fab's Common Settings which will probably work.
Obviously, it it is not always effective and the fixes become more complicated.

There are literally 100's of posts here about DMA, thousands on the web.
Take a look at my Tips link in my sig.

The Kodak media (actually made in India by Moser Baer)
(from your log: 2011-08-26 01:24:23 Info Media ID: MBIPG101-R10-41)
is marginal to crappy quality media.
Despite it working some of the time, this does not translate to good quality media and you're likely to find the longevity of this media...poor.

Use what you wish, but it is what it is.

Currently, there are many issues with Fab software and many frustrated and unhappy customers.
This frustration has been exacerbated with the release of the QT (MAC) versions.
Like many, I believe Fab is trying to become the end all and be all and as a result is compromising its core value to its customer base.

No one wants to use software that needs constant tweaking, modification and combinations of older and newer versions to achieve the desired results.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
