Hi signals,
I don't think it is because of my system, because the first time I started using DVDFab was on version 8.1.0.5 Qt and it was around 3 hours or less to finish. Now with the latest stable version, it came out to be 50+ hours. Surely there are something wrong with the conversion/compression stage. CPUs are maxed out, memory usage is high, but with an average speed of 0.0 MB to 0.02 MB per second is totally ridiculous. Besides, my system specs is way better than the basic requirement for DVDFab. As I mentioned before, the older version ran at less than 3 hours. Now with the new version it is more than 50 hours. The problem is with the software.

Why BD50 to BD9 conversion so slow?

If you have a USB hard drive, use that for the Source or Target, it will speed things up some (i.e. don't read and write to the same drive). I avoid the C: drive altogether, since windows is always reading and writing to the swap file, which is usually there. Your process is still very slow, not sure why unless the CPU just can't handle all the bits fast enough. Is this a Core2Duo? If you have IDE hard drives, make sure they are in UDMA transfer mode, not PIO. Same for your optical drive. Compressing Blu-rays is stressful and demanding of system resources. You might consider a system upgrade if you plan to do much work that involves decoding/re-encoding them.

First I would like to correct a mistake. I first said the CPU is nearly idle, but I was wrong. The CPUs are using to the max. The memory usage is very high. The only thing that is near idle is the hard disk activity.
The decoder and encoder is set at the default settings, which I believe is "software".
For example, the movie "Om Shanti Om" took a whopping 53+ hours to finish. Please take a look at screenshots for more details.
I hope the developers will have a fix soon. Thanks.

Why BD50 to BD9 conversion so slow?
Dear DVDFab developers, staffs, and experts,
Why is converting from BD50 to BD9 (1080 p/i) is taking so slow now? I tried many blu-ray movies and it took an average of about 40-50 hours to finish. The speed is un-acceptible. The average speed is 0.0 MB to 0.02 MB per second. The problem is the CPU and hard disk activities are almost idle.
Please take a closer look at this issue and please fix it ASAP. Thank you.Tags: None
