ImgBurn and VSO Not Burning Properly

Lately mostly anything I burn with either ImgBurn or VSO renders me coasters. It either fails to burn altogether or it appears to have burned a disc. Once I view it, it just stops at certain spaces and won't go on for a few minutes - then it picks up again until the next freeze.

I know people in the forum rave about ImgBurn, but I'm beginning to wonder WHY! Its newest version is a sellout. It kept trying to install crap on my computer that I did not want. I opted not to upgrade.

Perhaps version 8 0 8 5 is too old. Are any of the newer ones that are better? I was using versions 8015qt and 8010 qt. These were even worse, which is why I went back to 8.0.8.5.

Has anyone come across these issues? Also, which upgrade should I try?

    Thanks.

      Wilson
thanks for your prompt reply, but it did NOT work!

I tried burning with 8129 and 8126 (with both imgBurn and VSO) and no go...

I used to not have any problems burning with DVDFab. Lately I'm getting nothing but coasters.

      Thanks.

I suggest you post the DVDFab log files so that others can see what might be going on.

Have you brought this issue up to the group?

I have a feeling this is a problem with DVDFab that is affecting more than just the two of us.

Perhaps if others who have been affected by this would write , the programmers would look into it.

I note that the more advanced DVDFab gets, the more problems that it creates for its users... What's your take on it?

Actually, I have been wanting to suggest that DVDFab get rid of its own decrypter and allow its members to use others. For example, I used a program, other software for burning standard DVDS. That program did not have its own decrypter, thus I used other software. During the many years that I used it, I had less coasters than I've been getting with DVDFab lately. Food for thought here guys...

It has been my experience that the blank media is irrelevant IF DVDFab is working properly.

Please enlighten me. What do you mean by "turning off the hardware assists?" I'd appreciate it.

                    Thank you.

Well. Now that you have posted a log, I can tell you that you are using cheaparse, crap blanks.

Ditch the RITEKS and you may have a better chance of success.

Thank you for your prompt response. Nonetheless, would you be so kind as to enlighten me as to what you mean?

I understand most users here abhor RITEK discs. However, I have not had any problems with them until recently - and I have been using DVDFab for a long time now...

Mind you, I am neither defending nor condemning the discs. My question is WHY or HOW it is that I have been having the problem I have been encountering recently.

It's very easy to blame the "cheaparse" blanks, but that doesn't tell me why I should consider a more expensive brand. Are you telling me that DVDFab had nothing to do with the problem? Don't take this the wrong way, but I find that pretty hard to believe.

I have used Taiyo Yuden before and got coasters - and even when I didn't, my stand alone blu-ray player had problems playing them back.

REALISTICALLY, which brands should I consider?

                            Thanks.

P.S. I still maintain that DVDFab had something to do with the coasters...

Well you're having problems now aren't you? Do a search for other media that people have reported having success with if you choose to ignore what has already been suggested to you.
